Been a while since I last did a bit of movie and music purchasing online, but since all the shops/stores have been closed for a while now in my city, I felt the need of doing a bit of online shopping, and pick up a few ones, that I have had in my watchlist, or wanted list for a long while:
Forbidden Planet (1956) - Blu-ray
Not seen this since back in the early 00s, when I caught it on late night cable tv. Surely among the most famous or classic of the many 50s sci-fi/adventures, and one I really felt I had to pick up, as any sci-fi movie collection, is surely not complete, without it.
Hot Pursuit (1987) - DVD
One of many interesting John Cusack 80s comedies, which I have been meaning to give a go, but never quite got there. Anyway, I decided to pick this one up, and where I guess my next steps, would be to visit Say Anything and One Crazy Summer.
Kajs Fødselsdag (1990) - DVD
Or Kajs Birthday, which is a typical impulse buy, looked interesting and is a danish comedy from the early 90s, and also features several noticable or familiar faces/names attatched to it.
Oscar (1991) - DVD
Well, I think or believe that I actually never have seen the entire film, and as a fan of Sly, I realize very well, that he was never too comfortable with the comedy genre, and I guess Oscar it surely not some lost "classic", but this DVD was so low priced, and yeah, I just thought I might give it a go.
Romy And Michele's High School Reunion (1997) - DVD
Also known (in my country) as Blonde and Blonder. Most likely a cash in or attempt on milking the success of Dumb and Dumber (1994), but yeah, I always enjoyed this sexy and fun filled adventure, where of course it is helped out, by having two very fine looking ladies, as Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino, in the leads.
I picked up a VHS tape of the film, a few years ago, but thought an upgrade might be well worthy.
Shocker (1989) - DVD
One of the few films of Wes Craven, which I somehow have not yet seen, but always wanted to.
Anyway, it seemed like a theme of doing prison/prisoner supernatural horror films during the late 80s, and Shocker sounds a lot like another late 80s film that I really enjoyed, The Horror Show (1989) or House 3.
Somewhere in Time (1980) - Blu-ray
A film that I just recently learned of, I believe from this site, and seems like a potential gem. Always been a fan of Christopher Reeve, and Jane Seymour is quite a stunning lady, so yeah, I hope this one might be a hidden 80s gem.
Making Mr. Right (1987) - DVD
Romantic sci-fi/comedy, that I remember hearing of, in the now lost Comedy section on this site, but where a thread was discussing underrated/forgotten comedies of the 80s and 90s, and I stumbled upon this film, and somehow, it reminded me a bit of the Disney made for tv films, Not Quite Human.
Master of Disguise (2002) - DVD
Yeah, and this one will be "interesting", to see if it is one of the worst films of all time, or not. But it was so cheaply priced, and somehow, I have kind of been wanting to give it a go, not sure why, but yeah, I will not expect some hidden "gem" with this one.
Band of the Hand (1986) - Blu-ray
I have been wanting to watch this film, for almost 10-15 years, as I remembered only seeing a few scenes, from when it was sent late at night, on tv.
It features quite a talented cast, where I believe James Remar, Stephen Lang, Lauren Holly and Lawrence Fishburne is all included, and there seemed to be some kind of link up, with Michael Mann and Miami Vice, in style, theme and atmosphere.
Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai (1984) - Blu-ray
Always been a fan of Peter Weller, believing his finest hour as a leading man, came through his many sci-fi/action and horror-thrillers of the 80s and 90s, but somehow, I have never seen this interesting looking movie.
Dick Tracy (1991) - DVD
Another one, I have been wanting to give a go, but never got there. Hopefully it might be fun ride.
Man Who Haunted Himself (1970) - Blu-ray/DVD combo
Roger Moore will always be my favorite Bond, but sadly his movie career beside the 007 role, were a rather uneven and poor one, at least of the films I have seen of him, from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Still, this film has been on my mind, for a long time now. Often heard only positive things about it, so yeah, I thought it should be given a chance.
Phantasm (1979) - Blu-ray
Well, sometimes I guess one just have to do a bit upgrading, specially when it comes to certain unique movies, that has a special visual atmosphere/style and sound to it, and while I already own the film, several times over, on DVD, I felt this Arrow UK Blu-ray release just had to be picked up, as it was on sale, and Arrow rarely disappoints me, with their releases.
En Väldig Vänskap (2015) - DVD
A drama from Iceland, totally impulse buy.
Family Business (1989) - DVD
Never heard of, until just recently, but picked it up, only because of the leading trio, consisting of Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick.
Blood Rage (1987) - Blu-ray/DVD Combo
Another interesting Arrow UK release, and one of the later 80s slashers, which I have been meaning to check out, for a while now.
Seventh Sign (1988) - DVD
Supernatural thriller, starring Demi Moore and Michael Biehn, yeah totally impulse buy.
American Dragons (1998) - DVD
Again, impulse got to me, and I have always liked Michael Biehn. One of those who never lets me down, even though he sadly never seemed to break out of the character actor part, and go into leading roles.
Big Man (1990) - DVD
An early Liam Neeson drama, which I have only seen some parts of, but that is very long since. I believe he portrays a bare knucle fighter, and is hired as "entertainment" to brutal and illegal fights, but yeah, I hope it will be a good one.
Rolling Thunder (1977) - DVD
Another impulse buy, but one which really sounds interesting, or promising. Knowing it stars William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones, that should probably be enough, but seems like a rather solid vigilante release.
Red Rock West (1992) - Blu-ray
Somehow, another one, that I have been wanting for years now, but everytime I seem to find a DVD copy online, it is either out of production or ridiculous overpriced (for a used version), so when I saw this German Blu-ray, which came with a far more tempting price, I just had to go for it.
Cohen & Tate (1988) - Blu-ray
Another Arrow Blu-ray, and picked it up, because it looked like fun film, and since it starred Roy Scheider and Adam Baldwin as two crazy hitmen/killers.
Ghost Warrior (1984) - Blu-ray
Some japanase samurai/ninja, has been freezed for centuries, and all of a sudden he is brought back to life, and must try to cope with the harsh reality of modern L.A. City, and yeah, that along with the neat looking artwork/cover, was more than enough to make me want to watch it.
Slime City (1988) - DVD
This scandinavian uncut DVD, seemed to be out of production, but somehow it was up for the grabs again, and I have been meaning to watch this for a long time.
Looks like delicious late 80s splatter sleaze cult-film.
Erik Viking (1989) - DVD
Another case of the impulse buy, where I belive the Monty Python along with Tim Robbins is out for a a Viking adventure, and that sounded rather interesting.
Safety Last! (1923) - DVD
A classic, no doubt about that, but have not seen it, since the late 90s/early 00s and felt I should pick up a few of the Harold Lloyd films.
Accidental Hero (1992) - DVD
A childhood favorite, and not seen it since the early 90s, but felt I need to check upon it once more.
The Cowboy Way (1994) - DVD
Never seen the entire film but again, something I caught hold of, as a late night cable tv pick, and it features Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland, as two trigger happy cowboys, riding into the big city, and yeah, that sure sounds like a interesting little buddy-cop action comedy.
The Haunting (1963) - DVD
Another classic horror film, that I have been wanting to pick up, for years, but just never came to that, until now.
Hopefully one which lives up to its reputation.
Now, all I need, is to actually get the films brought home, and hopefully most of them might be on their way, before Easter sets in.
Two of them is already on their way, but I really hope more will arrive soon.
