The last 10 minutes or so of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH (2001) are very creative. Too bad that the rest is only a mildly interesting story. The songs are catchy, but nothing special. Since director John Cameron Mitchell wrote the scripts of the movie and the play its based on, he could've easily decided to not modify anything (feeling too attached to the material). Luckily, he knows what it really means to adapt a story from one medium to another. I've never seen the play, but there are certain elements in the movie that physically couldn't have been represented on stage. Mitchell's performance is great, but the humour never works. 5/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
