It looks crappy to me, but I'll probably still end up watching it. The jump scare of Pennywise in the gutter is pathetic and sums up modern horror movie making always looking for cheap cliches. Not really looking forward to it based on the trailer, I can see it being full of CGI as well. The only gripe I had with the original was the cheesy acting of the adults, but this version looks like an attempt to do a modern update and dare I say it, it looks like some kind of Stranger Things type nostalgia fest, even though Stranger Things heavily borrowed from IT in the first place. Part of me hopes this fails, as I can see a load of new King movies coming out in the next couple of years if this does well.

I wonder how much they reshaped this to cash in on the Stranger Things buzz? I thought Stranger Things was true to the spirit of Stephen King movies -- by being just as lousy as most of them turned out to be. Stranger Things was surely worse than the original version of "It." Matthew Modine has to be the least inspiring villain ever put on film. And Winno Ryder's stupid Christmas lights telegraphic to another universe incredible stupid. Oh, don't get me started on Stranger Things again...

The trailer already has more than 10 million views on Youtube after 24 hours. Is that a sign of interest in this film, or is that just average for a mid-budget horror film?

Well, there's not much going on right now in the fantasy/sci-fi/horror world. And Stephen King is probably the best-selling author in the world by now. But it's a good story, I just don't see how they're doing it without the adults. The best part of the tv series is how you see the kids and then the grown up adults. I don't know who said it's badly acted. All the actors are good. John Ritter is excellent, as are the rest of the cast. Honestly, even the monster is pretty good although always thought it looked too much like an escapee from Red Lobster.

They're telling the part with the kids first, and then they'll do the adults in the followup film if the first does well. Besides, the parts with the Loser's Club when they were kids are WAY more interesting than anything their adult selves ever had going on... especially in the mini-series when all the adult actors were terrible, but the kid actors were phenomenal.

I rather they split the movie in two.

The trailer looked better than I was expecting. I wonder how true they'll stay to the novel. Will the kids have a gang bang in the sewer after they kill the monster? . That would be uncharted territory, but not sure I want to see it. It felt unnecessary in the book. Over all, I love horror films, and I may go see this if there isn't anything else playing.

Instead, he puts it in books and got rich. I'm surprised no one tried to recreate that scene just for the sake of seeming "edgy." It was a weak scene in the book tho.

Stephen King’s IT Trailer Breaks Online Views Record
Deadline is reporting that the first teaser trailer for IT managed to score more viewers in 24 hours than any other film in history. With 197 million views in that time period, the remake managed to beat the first Fate of the Furious trailer, which previously held the title for most views in 24 hours with 139 million. That means it scored almost 60 million more viewers than that trailer did in that time frame, and completely smoked all of the other previous record holders, including Beauty and the Beast (127.6 million), Fifty Shades Darker (114 million), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (112 million). Aside from just the positive hype surrounding the new remake, these numbers are no doubt in part thanks to the excellent social media marketing strategies for it on behalf of New Line and Warner Bros. The trailer became a trending topic on Facebook and Twitter, landed at the top of the Reddit homepage, and even found its way to the Number 1 spot on the YouTube homepage. And in case that wasn’t enough, the report states that 81 million of the views and over 1.8 million of the shares came just from its U.S. Facebook instances. screenrant.com/it-movie-stephen-king-trailer-views-record/

Am I a bad person for laughing out loud at the kid bumping his head at the beginning? It was like something out of Home Alone. Looks pretty much exactly like how I expected it to look. Still haven't heard Stellan's son's voice, but at best I'm expecting a Jackie Earle Haley to Tim Curry's Robert Englund. I laughed too, it's the kind of thing kids that age do and it's nice to see a film embrace that For the trailer itself, it's definitely does a good job and i liked what i saw, it appears to be pretty tense, but as it's a trailer, it's not exactly a guarantee of how the film will be, i hope they have a good mix of humour/tension/suspense and some good old scares It's been a long, long time since i saw the tv mini series they did of IT and i liked that so i was mildly interested in this new version, but a bit apprehensive and watching the trailer, has put most of that apprehension to rest

It's now officially the most successful trailer (in terms of number of views) in the history of trailers. Crazy.
