I couldn't be happier! It looks like Stranger Things had a kid with Stand By Me but scarier. I have both my hopes and expectations high that we'll be getting the most terrifying Stephen King book-movie adaption in years. Thoughts?

The trailer looked good, very creepy. I've been excited to see this one for awhile so I hope it's as good as the trailer makes it out to be.

I think it looks good. Still not a big fan of the new pennywise as they tried too hard to make him look scary. But I'm still excited nonetheless

It looks like I'm in the minority in thinking it didn't look that good. Some of the trailer shots looked too close to the 1990 TV movie - the Georgie scenes especially. I also think it's going to be too short as a 2-hour or so movie - they're going to have to leave out a lot. The thing that made It the novel so good was the establishment of setting and building up characters individually and as a group and having the story told through flashbacks and memories. I don't know if the movie is going to be able to capture that. It would have been great as a 12-episode Netflix series.

The thing is, the 90's movie was based on the book, the same as this new adaptation, so for me, it's not a case of them copying the 90's version, but just following what happens in the book, so for me personally, i don't have an issue with stuff like that As for your idea about it possibly being perfect for a Netflix series or some other network, honestly, i think you make a good point and given the success of Stranger Things, i think there would be a very strong case for that direction and maybe, depending on how good or bad the fillm turns out to be, might have been the better option I hope the run time of the film is at least 2 hours though, like you said, there is a lot of source material and it would be nice if they built the characters up and we cared for them, i like character development (within reason) and i think it's an important part of any film

But I'm still excited nonetheless I don't think the posters give a fair picture of what to expect from Pennywise, the pictures make him look like they tried too hard, but in action, it could work very well, if that makes any kind of sense, it did in my head, lol I definitely think people need to wait until they see the film to really judge him though, just to see what he's really like in action, because as above, a few pictures and a few seconds of screen time in a trailer, doesn't give you the full picture or a character, so hopefully the new Pennywise will be great and not an over the top version

I wonder if they are going to edit out most of the adult portion of the novel. That portion of the story doesn't seem to be a part of the trailers at all. It could work on screen, but that is such an important aspect of the story. I'll still probably see it and hope for the best.

watermia@marilynnlovestigger They are going to shoot IT part 2 so they will show the adults as well in the sequel. Personally I was intrigued by the jumpscare when Pennywise quickly "runs up some invisible staircase" thru the water and shrieks loudly. I love those unsettling "uncanny valley" things. I haven't read the book but I hope they won't do a lot of jumpscares, it's a bit too scary for me. I prefer unsettling creepy imagery and bizarre juxtapositions of phantasmagoria and reality.
