It's been 20 years since the controversial remake of Hitchcock's "Psycho" came out. How do you feel about the movie today? It was a remake many consider a blasphemy experiment and nothing more that hasn't really attempted before or since.

It's quite excellent, underrated and misunderstood.

It’s pretty darn bad. The performances aren’t bad, but the fact they shot it exactly like the original bit-by-bit makes it all the more insulting.

From Roger Ebert's review - "The movie is an invaluable experiment in the theory of cinema, because it demonstrates that a shot-by-shot remake is pointless; genius apparently resides between or beneath the shots, or in chemistry that cannot be timed or counted."

Perhaps. I still liked the '52 Prisoner of Zenda more than the Ronald Colman version.

It should have never been done in the first place.

I've heard many people say Vince Vaughn is miscast as Norman Bates.

I've heard many people say Vince Vaughn is miscast as Norman Bates. And they were right.

Haven't seen it. Vince Vaughn is miscast. Norman Bates was a non threatening wimpy type. He should have been the John Gavin role. Who is the John Gavin in this? Adrian Brody? I could see them choosing a wimpier type as the boyfriend. Viggo Mortensen. He's more of a wimpier type than Vaughn. More subdued personality.
Cannot picture John Gavin playing that guy with the diaper problem in Carlito's Way.

Once I learned it was a shot-for-shot remake of the 1960 movie, I left it well alone.

An interesting experiment. I didn't mind it.
