I'm looking forward to this because it is supposed to be a more faithful adaptation of the novel, unlike the miniseries which had to omit a lot of details.

I actually liked what I saw in the trailer. To be honest with you I don't think much of the original miniseries mostly due to the bad acting and some of the characters seemed kind of dumbed down or something.
I'm hopeful.

Original was too long and boring. Had a few good scenes ,but yeah , bad acting. This looks promising.

I really hope it is...the book is one of my favorites. I think Tim Curry is hard to top in...pretty much anything he does, but I'm optimistic about the direction this is going. Admittedly having a soft spot for the mini-series, I've got overly inflated expectations probably, but it's a great story and I'd love to see it get a new treatment. I wish them the best while hoping they stick a little closer to the source material.

Pennywise seems more frightening. I hope the kids don't overact.

Looks like it'll be good or at least better than the miniseries.

I don't care for the new Pennywise. His look is too obvious, like he's trying too hard to be scary. The old Pennywise looked like a regular clown, which made him more frightening during the scary scenes.
This new guy is just too demonic-looking, so there's no surprise to it.
But the trailer looks OK, hopefully it'll be good, since I love the SK book.

Just saw this and was hugely disappointed. Starting with the cast, who can't act. I hated almost everything about the movie. Another movie that I hyped up in my mind for months and it couldn't live up to it.

Come on, it wasn't terrible. The kids were all fine, even if most didn't stand out. I think the big disappointment for me was the kids were a bit indistinguishable. The kids in the book were really well defined and well drawn distinct characters, where here they weren't mostly given enough attention to have much individual personality. Also the back stories were all hugely short changed, and some of the changes were odd choices and left some characters pushed to the side, where in the book, and even the mini series, there were no minor characters within the main ensemble.
I thought Pennywise was mostly well portrayed, but I think the opportunity to reveal him as more than a clown was missed at the end. Some ideas are probably being saved for the sequel, which will have a TON of ground to cover if they want to approach the amount of sheer story and information the novel presents, but not revealing Pennywise to have a grander shape or form, or showing him as some other entity toward the end of this chapter was, to me, a mistake.
I thought it was generally fine, and in interested to see the next part. They got a lot of things right, and some big things wrong. Too much CGI, unresolved threads, deleted story lines, odd character choice deviations, and plot changes and updates, but all in all it was ok. Just not as good or impactful as it should be.

I also think the actor playing Pennywise is too young, he should be an older actor to give an idea that Pennywise has been around for a long, long time. I didn't like the woman in the painting being added when it wasn't in the book.

Yeah, they seemed to really want a young, babyish pennywise for some reason. Even from the previous, incomplete production by Cary Fukanaga, he had cast Will Poulter, so that was either an idea the studio liked, or something this director liked enough to carry over from an earlier take.
It doesn't bother me, as in my recollection it's never stipulated that he looks either old or young, but I do agree that some aspects of the Tim Curry version work better. I think having him transform into more of a haggard and demonic version of the same thing sells that idea in the mini-series, and that wasn't done in this movie.
Also, Bill Skaarsgard is a fucking creepy and weird looking dude. They didn't need to change the shape of his face as much as they did. It kind of looked like it could have been anyone in under that makeup when he already has a great, sinister look about him.
I did like that the costume was more as described in the book, but they didn't use the fact that that look would appear on some of the other forms to give away that it was actually Pennywise, like the bird that head silver and orange feathers for example.
I didn't mind the old lady thing, but I thought the CGI was obvious and overdone. Some thing with the leper. I just wish more practical or more convincing digital effects had been used.
It's worth noting though, that Stephen King loved the old lady painting.

What's most interesting is that at the moment, IT has grossed more worldwide than JUSTICE LEAGUE.

What's most interesting is that at the moment, IT has grossed more worldwide than JUSTICE LEAGUE. Does that say more about how much people like IT, or more about how much everybody hated Justice League? A little bit of both, most likely.
