Give me 3 good reasons why a Star Trek movie should ever be rated R? Logan was not good enough a reason for you? Well, what about fullfilling their mission
1. Crossing the final frontier 2. to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilisations; 3. to boldly go where no man has gone before
without the limitations of a PG rating?
Now, pray tell me of one prime directive that stipulates why Star Trek should never be rated R?
Could you please be more specific about your reasoning?
And no: "Logan did it too" is not sufficient what so ever.

You seem to operate under the misconception that I suggested that Star Trek should be R-rated per se. I said: "For good or for bad, I would so much have preferred Quentin Tarentino's R-rated approach. This franchise needs a Logan".
That should already tell you everything. But to spell it out for you, I would have preferred a Tarantino ST film to a more conventional ST as QT might do the same with ST what J Mangold did for CBMs. Namely:
- Shake up the formulaic and stagnating franchise - Bring in new character possibilities and dialogue - Bring in more mature content and notions - Create real stakes, finality and realism to boldly go where no ST movie has gone before - for good or for worse. Typically QT films are R-rated, be it for language, nudity and/or depiction of violence. If QT needs it for his ST too, like Mangold: fine with me, if he does not, fine too.
I'm not even a QT fan. But Christopher McQuarrie I asociate with JJ Abrams, and the latter's two Star Dreck Into Lens Flare cannot be made unseen.
