Went to a premiere tonight to see the flick. I want to start by saying I have had little to no exposure to this story. Ive not read the manga or seen the other films or tv shows. So I don't compare this story to any of the other Ghost in the Shell properties...but I really liked it.
Scarjo was solid as usual. She's got the tough girl routine down and even tho she seemed a little too black widow in the beginning that rubbed off as her character progressed. The supporting cast was solid...Batou is played by Pilo Asbaek and i thought he was Michael Shannon the entire film...Beat Takano is Chief Aramaki, who the entire film I was waiting to see him kick some ass and i wasn't disappointed. The Kuze character was cool as a hacker terrorist fella that's wiping out Hanka Robotics executives and the Cutter character was your typical evil businessman.
The action was very solid...visuals and sound were amazing...storyline is not complex but it doesn't need to be. Overall I definitely recommend checking it out. Ill be looking into finding the anime to compare.
