I hope he doesn't. But I hope they give him another Superman movie, worthy of the character and him. I enjoyed MOS but it sure wasn't perfect looking back at it now.

it's market signalling. Cavil is evidently happy to continue the role; WB wants to focus primarily on fresh characters. Does not mean Cavill can't play in an ensemble film a la JL 2 or do a cameo. People act as if there was no way back - ever heard about a film titled "Never say never again" featuring the estranged actor returning?

Henry Cavill had potential to be a great Superman. I wouldn't complain if he stayed.

I'm not ready for a new Superman, the world is already in too much turmoil.

People act as if there was no way back - ever heard about a film titled "Never say never again" featuring the estranged actor returning? That’s not a great example. That movie was made by an entirely separate company that had a rights loophole to make a Bond movie, it’s not canon. It would be like if Disney somehow found a way to make a one-off Clark Kent movie without getting sued and hired Cavill. That analogy would essentially be accepting that WB will never bring him back. Bourne or Universal Soldier might be more apt comparisons.

Cavill wasn't the problem with Superman, it was Snyder. At this point, we actually don't know whether Cavill can make a great Superman or not but he definitely deserves another shot with a decent director at the helm.

I still wish they’d kept the stache for the reshoots, so we’d randimly see him that way throughout the film. That’d make JL like 21% better.

I hope he can return, but really most of what made MoS good was Snyder's direction. It just won't be the same, but at least I can hope they will get a director that is just as capable. Maybe Snyder's friend James Gunn; Super is proof enough he can make a Man of Steel sequel.

He and Cavill got along great so maybe they can bring the former onboard for a solo followup.

Fine with me. But I think nobody should play Superman in more than 3 films. Typecasting.
Cavill can do more than Superman.

Snyder's direction and inspired re-interpretation of the myth. Though Snyder's cinematography was not as superb as usual, looked like JJ Abrams with shaky cam, lens flare and color grading. but yeah, Super was quite alright. But still, keep creepy Gunn out of DC movies.

It would make sense to reboot Superman. Whether or not you liked Cavill ( each performance has been worse Than the previous IMO), The movies simply aren’t making what Superman movies should be making.
