I have seen over 2000 horror movies in my time and outside of Craven, Carpenter, and some related forerunners, have yet to see a slasher film that measures up to good entertainment. Creative input from directors like Bava or Argento goes some way, as does the odd grittier entry - e.g. malevolence, Halloween 4, or the random passable 1980s title - e.g. my bloody Valentine, the prowler, the funhouse, the burning, but a low rent cash-In like graduation day comes direct from the bottom of the proverbial barrel.
I can't even fathom why it's been honored on the classic film board and find all that sycophantic adoration misguided and off-putting. Each to their own, I suppose, but frankly, I think life is far too short for that sht - except to add this quote from Maltin's movie guide..
Graduation Day (1981) BOMB. A bloody FRIDAY THE 13TH clone with no talent or imagination.
Agreed.

Saw this a few years ago, not in the 80's. Every occassion/holiday seemed to get their own horror movie back then. As a slasher fan, this was above board. R.I.P. Christopher George, who died much too young just after this movie. Great write up once again, petrolino. And being a new wave and Duran Duran fan, I really appreciate that footage you posted, nice find!

Haven't seen those other Herb Freed movies, the only other one of his I've seen was Tomboy (1985), which is more of a typical 80's sex comedy.
Haven't seen all those 1981 slasher yet either, thanks for the to-do list.
