I like Werner Herzog's films but I feel like I have to set aside half a day to watch one. I don't know, they just feel quite gruelling to me. But he's made some entertainments too. I like his 'Bad Lieutenant' sequel.

I own his entire filmography on DVD. He is among my all time favorite directors. His relationship with Klaus Kinski was tenuous, but as a team produced some extremely memorable films.

One of the "big name, classic" Euro directors I still have a lot of catching up to do with. I've enjoyed Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo, Nosferatu and his more recent Rescue Dawn. Love the adventurous, against-all-odds, man against nature spirit he brings to his films. ![](http://www.theparisreview.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/fitzcarraldo.jpg)

![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/2f/91/d6/2f91d681c7ded1be20cebcb742a4f2de.jpg) Very odd to hear Werner Herzog doing a guest voice on The Simpsons, but it happened in episode The Scorpion's Tale 2011, playing Walter Hottenhoffer. As for his directed movies I've liked is Nosferatu 1979 and Fitzcarraldo 1982. ![](https://i.gifer.com/LcNv.gif)
