Link: saturdaytradition.com/iowa-football/nate-stanley-returning-to-iowa-for-senior-season/Damn it....I am a lifelong Hawkeyes fan. I will admit that Stanley has his moments but damn they are hit or miss. He'll have a random 5 TD performance and then he'll throw for like 40% because he has no consistency. You just can't count on him. I'm looking forward to the Outback Bowl but I am nervous. Part of me wished that he would declare because I'm tired of watching him. I'm ready to move on as a Hawkeye fan.

Then there is Spencer Petras who is currently redshirted I believe and he was a 4 star recruit out of California who I'm excited for. He's a 6-5 QB who originally committed to Oregon State until he switched to Iowa. I'd like to think that in 2020 those two battle it out for the starting job but Ferentz usually favors his upper classman so I'd expect Mansell to be the favorite.

Good decision by Nate. I don't think his draft stock would of been very high this year because of his inconsistency, like you mentioned. He is a prototype pro QB that is big and strong with a great arm, but he needs to improve his accuracy. Hopefully next season he will.

Part of me thought he'd declare considering this QB class doesn't seem to be very good he might have been over drafted much like Beathard was. I remember before the season started McShay had Stanley as a 1st round pick. Looks crazy now after the season he had. I do hope he balls out in the bowl game and plays better next year too. I'd take average Nate Stanley play if he could just do it consistently week in and week out.
