I only need to enjoy it once Have you ever had that experience where you see a Movie just once and you enjoy it but then as time passes and you look back on it, you suddenly realize that that Movie was actually Terrible ? yes. District 9 is my best example because I do think it’s terrible. However I also add Spideman Homecoming. I think the charm of Peter Parker as a kid masked just how much this was not really a Spider-Man movie. Most of the MCU movies are ones I like but I have no interest in rewatching.

I thought it was very good and will likely rewatch it once it comes on physical media.

Let's talk about a movie where a super-hero with long hair and a lot of muscles finds himself in the middle of a monarchical conflict where the villain is his brother, and he ends up in a world full of bright colors where he has to battle someone in an arena in front of a big audience. You don't want to talk about the THOR trilogy? Then let's talk about AQUAMAN. I was never bored, but I was never fully entertained either. Jason Momoa showed in JUSTICE LEAGUE that he was funny and charismatic, but now he needed to show if it was enough to carry a movie. Thanks to those traits plus his dramatic talent, he commands the screen. Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Dolph Lundgren's performances are good too. In the first scene with PRINCE ORM MARIUS (the title character's brother), another character says "You'll become the OCEAN MASTER." Then, we hear "dum dum dum"... and it's not even a plot twist! That should be give you an idea of how bad Rupert Gregson-Williams' score is. By the way, none of the songs fit. The DC Extended Universe is taking a new direction that avoids using a dark tone and color palette. Honestly, those elements aren't bad; it's how they're used. While there is a gorgeous shot involving a flare under water, the images overall are so overly-bright that I'd rather look at BATMAN V SUPERMAN's. WONDER WOMAN on the other hand had arguably the best cinematography of the 6 installments so far. Also, it explored some deep issues while keeping a light tone, while this movie has the complexity of KHAL DROGO trying to teach the code of etiquette. I know, this is a comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. I'd be OK with that if the makers hadn't used the New 52 comics as inspiration. Why not choose something lighter? I read the first 25 issues (plus a couple of crossover issues from other series) and they were clearly a way to re-invent the character from being a punchline into someone heroic but with personal demons. In fact, while there were storylines involving battles between good vs evil, the true nature of the conflicts were emotional and the antagonists were such anti-villains (they did bad things with good intentions) to the point where a good amount of readers took their side. This movie removes the depth of the characters and the storylines (especially NUIDIS VULKO (Atlantis' counselor)). They don't even take advantage of the 1st storyline's self-awareness. They use a different type of humour and the jokes are hit-or-miss. Even if I hadn't read those comics, my opinion would be the same. The movie introduces a personal conflict for the protagonist (not wanting to be King) and, by the end of the movie, he has changed his mind without much trouble. I also didn't like how the center of the Earth looks too much like Planet Pandora. The only truly original aspect is that the GODZILLA-like monster that appears in the middle of a huge battle between 2 armies is on the hero's side. The action sequence during the opening flashback is hard to follow, while the most exciting action sequence is the one in Sicily. The moment where our hero takes the trident that grants him control over the seven seas and then steps out with his new suit is truly rousing. 5/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

I was pleasantly surprised by the movie and enjoyed it.
Marvel should take notes on how to do a big battle since just about all of theirs suck.
