I had seen that and while I didn't like it, I didn't hate it either. It was just your typical "kids go on crazy adventure" type of family movie. I can't help but be curious about this project since it's still New Gods. |

DCEU has released 5 movies and fired/lost/removed approximately 8 directors? Give or take? Changed or removed release dates on 8-10 movies? What are the odds it comes out before 2022? What are the odds she’s still the director when it does? Probability by the numbers. |

I will gladly eat the crow if I turn out to be wrong but, I'm not expecting much from this beyond a funky, avant garde, high-concept fashion show with a lot of CGI. We'll see...

I haven’t even bothered seeing A Wrinkle in Time, but the fact that she directed that doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence. You made the right choice to skip it when it was in theatres - I caught it on Netflix weeks ago and good lord it was hot garbage. I hadn't seen such an ego-driven, pretentious retelling of a beloved work of literature in a long time, the only thing going for it were the visual effects, make-up, and costuming, aaaannnnnd...That's it. Ava DuVernay needs to be let go of the New Gods movie as soon as possible, not only is she lacking in experience of handling productions of such scale but she isn't even familiar with the comic books and even went to Twitter asking "okay so where do I start?" |

This is definitely as big a red flag as you can find with this one, as history proves directors who are unfamiliar/uncaring of the source material they're adapting for screen do not usually go over too well, Godzilla '98 immediately springs to mind where you had Roland Emmerich not have any interest in the property or character and was given enough creative freedom to make his own thing which resulted in a huge box office disappointment and soiled his career( since Zilla he has never quite been able to recapture the love his Independence Day got). If it were up to me I'd let her go and replace her with someone more qualified for this property - Maybe George Miller? A little old yes but he can still direct a helluva picture and knows his DC Comics at least. |
