Ovechkin is on pace for 72 this year, at age 33. If he gets that and averages 48 a year through age 40, that's 1015 goals, with Gretzky at 896.

I think he could do it, but I don't think he's gonna play that long. He might be trying to get one more Stanley Cup, then call it a day.
He hasn't lost much on his game, though. You could make the case that he's playing better than ever at this point.
