Age is a issue, but only really for Stewart and McKellen. However, after so many Fox X-films of the Magneto-Xavier conflict, I think Fegie would want to completely minimise that in the MCU anyway, even with a recast. So those 2 would have minor roles at the beginning. Xavier would be a Nick Fury type, only appearing now and again to command. Its not a full time role. James Marsden is only 45 so no problem there. Halle and Famke are over 50 which could be an issue, but having seen Famke in DOFP, she still looks very good. Not seen what Halles been doing recently. Kelsey Grammar and Rebecca do makeup. Every other Xman they can recast if they wanted to like Rogue, Angel,. Or new characters like Gambit. Famke looked good in The Wolverine too. Some of that was the soft lighting, but mostly it was her. And she got a decent amount of screen time. The Wolverine was a I think a year earlier you go prolonged look at her compared to DoFP. famke was a great actress. in a way she showed the complexity of jean and had quiet power.
notice how mcu females are worthless. funny they say wait and see but remember how people are predicting captian marvel will suck because of they way brie seems to be directed in the film?
black widow has been in how many mcu movies? 9? still no character development or anything of substance from her. so for casting mcu xmen. you dont need talent.

Back to the topic. They're not going to bring any of the old cast over. Why would they want any of that baggage? They will recast and start fresh as they should. Taking the cast from a certain point like end of X1 means no baggage. A new cast has its own problems; 1) explaining how they were always in the background. This will not work, no way with all the world ending threats like Malketh and Ultron will mutants keep quiet 2) giving them origin movies which will take 3-4 years to get them to team status 3) erasing established major events like Holocaust and X-Mansion creation. These will have to be retold with a new cast - and will be a problem because of reason 1. All this wouldnt be a problem if they were keeping MCU and Xmen seperate universes. But its not secret that Fegie and Iger want them in the same universe. With several key Avengers actors contracts expiring, they dont have much time if they want to do an Avengers vs Xmen style movie (which would be a massive draw). So dont rule out Fegie bringing in the original Xmen cast, especially since hes been talking about how its like coming full circle for him to where he started out in his career. I honestly don't know how they're going to do it. But bringing over the cast from another set of films that the public is already familiar with is just going to cause a lot of unnecessary confusion for the general audience. It doesn't matter if it's from the first film or the last, it's baggage. Not to mention the ages of these actors will cause a whole other set of problems. They're looking to give this thing a fresh start, built for longevity with an avoidance for recasting. Why would they bring over a bunch of 40-80 year old actors to do that? I would prefer an adult X-Men team, but I can see them going young just as they did for Spider-Man. More than anything, they're going to do every thing they can to differentiate from past films. Whatever they do, I'm sure a lot of it will depend on what happens in Endgame. I still think they should sit on it for a while. Give it some distance from the past films and focus on the Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom instead.

Why would they bring over a bunch of 40-80 year old actors to do that? 1) Box office draw. No matter who the new debut cast of Xmen will be, the original cast is still a bigger draw at this point in time if they showed up in MCU 2) As said before, if they want to do Xmen vs Avengers before the OG avengers give up their roles, this is their only chance. A new Xmen cast vs new Avengers will take longer to prepare and have less spectacle appeal.

A new Xmen cast vs Avengers will take longer to prepare and have less spectacle appeal. 1) It makes no sense at all from a logical or business standpoint to bring over the old cast. It brings nothing but confusion and baggage. It will never happen. They're getting these characters back so that they can do something fresh with them that extends beyond a couple of films, which is the extent you're going to get out of bringing back actors/actresses that have already aged out of their roles. Bringing the original actors back worked for DOFP, but the novelty has worn off. The only ones that people would care about coming over would be Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and maybe Patrick Stewart, which would be a stretch. Jackman has already hung up the claws and Stewart has already been portrayed as an octogenarian. There's no coming back from that. 2) I don't think they're going to be in a rush to set up Avengers vs X-Men, at least not at this point. They're going to take their time and establish these characters and save the big events for later, just like they've done in the past. This is the X-Men we're talking about. Look how long they waited for the Avengers to mix it up with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Heck, most lay people still think Xmen/Deadpool are Marvel because they have the logo. It brings a recognition and will make more money. Imagine if Bale had been Batman in BvS. It would have made a billion plus easily. Anyway well see what happens, everything Fegie and Iger have said does not rule out a genuine crossover.

I like Famke, I feel like she could have been a pretty great Jean. Unfortunately, Fox never really gave her much to work with and never took the time to develop her properly. There was no complexity to her character, no depth. Just bland. So we ended up with a pretty so-so Jean.

I'd like to see them get someone legit for Xavier and then a young cast of relative unknowns. Do the original team and go from there; don't introduce Wolverine or even mention (or allude to) him until an after-credits scene for the third film in an introductory trilogy of MCU X-movies.
ETA: also, the movies must embrace the wondrous. Innit?

They already have there schedule up for current MCU. I don't know how fast Disney can get the rights back from Fox now a Subsidiary after first of 2019. I could take a day after they acquire Fox or maybe it's a headache and a shit ton of paper work and they don't get them back before spring of 2019. The way Marvel Studios plans releases, I bet they already have a window open for it. At the very least they probably have a slot dedicated to another movie and they juggle those around to make a spot for X-men in upcoming no named Marvel slots. I hope they take their time get the casting, writing, director, screenplay in line first. That could take months until they start to get a project spun up. I hope middle of 2020 is the earliest they start pre production on X-men. I also just want the original team. No need to put other people in it at the beginning. I want to give them enough time to have a clear focus on who what when and how. Especially the How to get them into the Universe. Start foreshadowing now. In this current situation they need to embrace the fantastical

You know when the Marvel Nexflix shows were the thing I thought a Netflix Fantastic Four show would've been a good foil for the other shows. Get Brad Bird the director of Incredibles as the show runner. One of the problems with the Netflix shows In my opinion was that all of them were basically the same flavor. Don't get me wrong I liked the tones, on an individual basis. The problem you run into is each being the same tone the shows get tedious after awhile especially when you are bingeing them. A FF show could've been they sherbet palate cleanser. Run it like a 13 episode Family Comedy. I'm not saying family friendly comedy, but in the style of a sitcom family show. Make it self aware enough that the audience is in on the joke, but also throw in some major sadness, darkness, and subtext at a few of the shows per year. It would really be a gut punch when that happens after a few hours of light affair.

Yeah, I agree (whether as a longform TV show or a series of movies) that the MCU lends itself well to a really fun, really good version of FF. It's still a mystery to me as to why seemingly every previous effort to make one has been a disaster, but that's beside the point...

Expect explosive discharge and furious anger. The epicenter is fixed at address IMDB v2. The concentric rings of damage may include such far flung places ad the Hellfire Club, IMDB original, and an Ate My Balls site from 1998. No damage is expected to matter there. There is a possibility that the final concentric ring of destruction may reach the Goatse site, but that site has seen destruction for 25 years.

There is a fine line between letting the viewer in on the joke and being cheesy. For when the first movie was made in 2005. We were still in the gripes of flashy uniforms and over the top creature design was frowned upon. In 2000 we just finished rebooting the Comic Book Genre starting with Blade but really gaining traction with X-men. It was still a tentative time in 2005. It seems for people to like a comic book movie it had to be minimalist in visual design. Plus the humor was mostly miss not even hit or miss. I would say it was the proto form of the lighter Comic Book movies that followed it though. Maybe they were just slightly off and slightly to early to the party.

I guess it depends on how they approach it. Will they start with a younger Charles Xavier? Middle age?
Also will the X-Men be set in a modern times? Would they want an elderly Xavier and Magneto to carry a franchise?

Would they want an elderly Xavier and Magneto to carry a franchise? All of those questions are valid, but to come up with answers you have to go down the rabbit hole of how the Higher Ups at Marvel Studios will introduce the X-men to the MCU. It gets tiring after a while. Nothing seems completely right. All have pros and cons. If somehow Marvel Studios figures out a way that everyone is cool with it will be like a fucking magic trick. I think if we go with the original Line up. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, and Iceman and make the teenagers to 20ish then Prof X would have to be in his 40-50. You want some longevity out of the actor but he doesn't have to be too young. I don't know why but I've always wanted Ralph Fiennes to be Xavier after Patrick Stewart. Which admittedly was once in a billion casting. Patrick Stewart is Charles Xavier.
