Egh, hadn't seen one that really scared me. The creepier ones I can think of include Nosferatu (1979) and Interview with The Vampire (1994). Salem's Lot sucked.

Probably Tobe Hooper’s “Salem’s Lot”.
“Near Dark” and “30 Days of Night” are up there.
In more recent times; “From the Dark” was surprisingly decent. Quite basic in set-up, but suspenseful in its minimal approach and an unnerving vampire design that is a throwback to Nosferatu.

Interview With the Vampire is the best vampire movie ever made IMO. Tom Cruise is actually quite intimidating here.
That said, much as I love such movies, I don't think the vampire sub-genre has ever been particularly adept at generating scares.
