I was hoping it would be Francis Ford Copola’s Dracula but even though it looked great it was way too campy. I guess the old Bela Lugosi one but it looks too old to be scary

Have you tried Kathryn Bigelow's action horror 'Near Dark' (1987)? Among the '80s crowd, it's kinda hip and scary at the same time, but good movie to my mind. Plays out like a western.

I don't know about 'scary' but the cream of the crop of the vampire genre is... Interview with the Vampire (1994) (8/10) as that clearly stands above the rest as nothing else challenges that one.

"Interview with a Vampire" is damn good.
Just saw "Bram Stoker's Dracula" for the first time 3 days ago. It was also damn good. Keanu Reeves (I normally like his style and delivery) and Wynona Rider are weirdly bad in this, but the overall presentation made up for it.
"Nosferatu" is still the one to beat for me. My father spray-painted his hand white and did that signature hand movement on my doorframe just to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid. Then he laughed, painted my hand white, and helped me do the same thing to my little brother (who had also just watched the movie).

For scary vampires I’d go with Salem’s Lot ‘79.

Gonna sound ridiculous, but I found the young band of vampires in 'Lost Boys' to be scary.

1. Bram Stoker's Dracula - 10/10, the best movie I've ever seen
2. Dracula (1958)
3. Vampires (1998)
4. Dracula: Prince of Darkness
5. Taste the Blood of Dracula
6. Blade
7. Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
8. Scars of Dracula
9. Dracula A.D. 1972
10. Salem's Lot (1979) - (probably the scariest vampires)
11. Blade II
12. Underworld: Evolution 13. The Satanic Rites of Dracula
14. Dracula (1931)
15. The Lost Boys
16. Interview with the Vampire

I don't know. My favorite is Martin (1978) and it's ambiguous if it's even about vampires.

How about " 30 DAYS OF NIGHT" ? Man, that was the other one I was gonna say. I only saw it once, though, and my memory of the flick is... limited. I remember it being somewhat visceral and gory and appreciating that. And maybe thinking there was something remotely clever about the third act/ending? As the Dude once said, "To tell you the truth, Brandt, I don't remember most of it."

Stephen King's book salem's lot is a scary read, and plays up the evil of vampirism in a familiar contemporary setting - not unlike the exorcist did with the devil. The 1979 tv production salem's lot does capture some of the chilling moments.
Anyway, modern vampire movies are the best bet, 'though I can't think of any in particular. Afflicted (2013) is a decent found footage film. 30 days of night (2007) is a popular scary one; I didn't rate it, but it is scary. Near Dark (1987) is probably the best modern day vampire movie - and should be watched regardless.

Raimo47I wish I could agree but nothing I have seen even comes close to Interview with the Vampire (1994) (8/10 ; within my Top 52 movies) as that stands alone as the #1 of the genre, hands down. my #2 movie of the genre is likely... Byzantium (2012-2013) (6-6.5/10) which is from same director as Interview with the Vampire. p.s. I seen the majority of movies you listed.

Twilight takes the cake in terms of most scary vampire movies . but in all seriousness , I'd definitely pick Salem's Lot (some very creepy and legit scary shit happens in that ) 30 Days of Night is probably the most recent example of legit scary vampire films . Danny Huston is flat out terrifying in it with his jet black eyes
