The Turin Horse The Man Who Wasn't There Satantango Dead Man Ed Wood I guess after watching Bela Tarr's Satantango (450 minutes) and The Turin Horse (155 minutes) you didn't have time to squeeze in Werckmeister Harmonies (145 minutes)?

Satantango is an undertaking, but definitely worth the effort. Werkmeister Harmonies would have been my #6 and The Man From London (2007) would probably make the Top Ten.

1. Schindler's List 2. Ed Wood 3. The Artist As I mentioned earlier, Schindler's 'red' scenes disqualify it from official competition.

Surprised Ed Wood is such a clear front runner. On my 1970 to 1989 thread there's no movie running away with things and a half dozen or so titles are vying for top spot.

The "crowd pleaser" of the arty B&W set. Arguably the best known film on the list. A worthy winner, but would have liked to have seen a tighter race.

I've only seen 13 out of 27. The ones I haven't seen are:
Begotten Man Bites Dog (surprised this hasn't gotten more love) Satantango La Haine Werckmeister Harmonies Angel-A The White Ribbon the last 7 movies after The Artist
My top 5 would be:
Clerks Ed Wood (these first 2 are the only ones guaranteed to make my top 10 if I were to combine the movies from both threads) The Man Who Wasn't There Good Night, And Good Luck. Control (surprised this hasn't gotten more love)

Though it might be unfair to vote for me since I've only seen four of them:
Ed Wood The Man Who Wasn't There Good Night and Good Luck The Artist
So those four were the only ones I could vote for, and I liked them too.

Roma with 10 Oscar noms and Cold War with 3. CW's 3 are for foreign picture, director and cinematography. Roma is also in those 3 categories as well as picture and 6 others.

I loved Roma, probably Top 3 of 2018 and just outside my Top 5 here. Cold War was visually gorgeous (almost on par with Roma), but while I was absorbed with the Roma's arguably slight narrative I couldn't really get into Cold War. It moved too quickly and I couldn't really latch onto anything until the very end.
