I'm going by IMDb dates, runtimes (minimum 60 minutes) and black and white listings (no colour listed at all) so feel free to point out any discrepancies. I hope I listed most/all of the well known and/or important ones. Feel free to suggest other titles.
Vote on your fave black and white '1970 to 1989' movies here.

I went with a no colour at all (according to IMDb) policy, so no Pleasantville.

Where is " SCHINDLER's LIST" ? Red balloon and coat disqualified it from competition.

I also like the directors cut of The Mist which was converted to the originally intended black and white

I also like the directors cut of The Mist which was converted to the originally intended black and white I'm guessing it was originally filmed in colour then was digitally changed to BaW? I think I noticed somewhere that a few other titles have been released with BaW alternate versions in recent years.

Ed Wood Clerks The Man Who Wasn't There Pi Following Solid first movies, both from 1998, for Darren Aronofsky (Pi) and Christopher Nolan (Following). They wouldn't make my top 5 though. Interestingly, what is probably my fave movie from each director is their second release (both in 2000): Requiem For A Dream and Memento, respectively.

To be honest, it's been so long since I've seen Following that I don't even remember it (that's why I put it at the bottom). I included it and Pi because the other movies in the poll I either haven't seen or I didn't care for. I'm watching some more of the movies in your poll here in the next month or two, so my list will probably change. Memento is my favorite Christopher Nolan movie too!

Schindlers List, ralph fiennes was the best actor in it.
His scenes made the film.

After director Pawel Pawlikowski started his career in colour, he's gone to BaW for his last 2 movies Ida and Cold War. Roma's been getting a lot of Oscar buzz but maybe Cold War will usurp it. He's probably best known to western audiences for My Summer Of Love, a coming of age tale starring Emily Blunt in a lesbian relationship. Take note anthonyrocks if you haven't seen it, it's a good one.

La Haine The White Ribbon Following The Man Who Wasn‘t There The Artist La Haine is a movie that's fallen through the cracks for me. Sounded interesting back then yet here we are over 2 decades later and I still haven't seen it.
White Ribbon sounds really good. The last Michael Haneke movie I watched was his remake of Funny Games. The last decade has seen a big decrease in my movie watching, especially non-English ones.

Looking at My Favorite Movies and sticking to the 1990 to date standard here are the only black-and-white movies worth mentioning (i.e. ones I score a 7/10 or higher)...
1)Angel-A (2005) - 9/10 (within my Top 21 movies) 2)Nebraska (2013) - 7.5-8/10 (within my Top 102 movies) 3)The Artist and the Model (2012-2013) - 7-7.5/10 (not much outside of my Top 102 movies)
so given two out of those three are in the poll I voted for the two I could.
p.s. hell, if we count black-and-white movies I score a 7/10 straight up there would basically be only two more than those three listed above which are... The Hustler (1961) (9/10) and The Song of Bernadette (1943) (7/10).
NOTE: I just looked through My Favorite Movies and those are the only ones I noticed being black-and-white. so unless I overlooked something it's just those 3 movies from 1990 to date and those 5 movies counting everything I have seen worth mentioning.
