There's another inconsistency revolving around Atlanna. In Justice League, Aquaman seems to resent his mother for leaving him when he converses with Mera in the air pocket after Steppenwolf steals the Motherbox. In Aquaman, he seems to feel guilty when he learns that his mother was "executed" for having him. So, in his solo film, Aquaman learned by the time he was a teenager why Atlanna left him while it's implied in Justice League, he doesn't know. He also says in JL that his mother left him as a babe in his father's doorstep. Whereas in his movie we know that Atlanna stayed with them to Arthur was already a toddler.

lol, I concluded all that after painfully reviewing the script and individual scenes - could have had it easier from this...

Or maybe not inconsistencies but definitely things that need a bit more explaining: 1. In Aquaman it seems Arthur has never been to Atlantis, yet in JL he goes to Atlantis to fight Steppenwolf away from the Motherbox. Speaking of which... 2. Why is Atlantis in that motherbox scene look more like ruins whereas in the Aquaman film it's shown as pretty high-tech. Unless the Atlanteans simply stuck the motherbox in a throwaway location with barely any guards... 3. That armor that Aquaman wore in JL, where did he get it? We know he got his trident from his mom but I doubt he was able to scrounge such good Atlantean armor from a random blacksmith. Also, why not wear it again when he first went to Atlantis? 4. In JL he showed some form of power by being able to block water via forcefield or something (in the fight against Steppenwolf). Nowhere is this power seen in Aquaman nor is it explained. 1. Atlantis is 1 of the 7 kingdoms. In JL, he might have fought Steppenwolf in 1 of the other kingdoms. Hence Orm is correct that's Arthur had never been to Atlantis. 4. In JL, didn't he block the water in the tunnel using the 5-pronged trident? That was Atlanna's trident so the power would've been part of the trident.

It is pretty clear that this was not Atlantis city, but some backwater place within Atlantean kingdom where they hid it. They never state where he's going exactly. Momoa confirmed it too btw, long ago:

"I spoke with Zack [Snyder, director of Justice League] early on, and Zack mentioned that the location that Aquaman swims to in Justice League is an outpost. "So when he told me that was his idea, I was like, 'Oh great, then I can actually have Arthur go to Atlantis for the first time'. That’s very important for me, because he can go into it and have a wide-eyed approach to Atlantis and be in awe of it."

So... the atlanteans decided to keep an all important motherbox in an underguarded outpost? Don't know if that's even worse than the inconsistency.
