What are the best sounding films ever? I mean in terms of sound editing, sound quality, inventiveness and surround sound etc?
Thanks

The gunfire sounds in Heat (1995) are second to none.

Inception. It's been nearly a decade and people are still trying to ape its sound effects and trailer music.

Blade Runner 2049 and Dunkirk had some really nice sound in the theater. It wasn't just loud, it had a lot of depth.

Recently Blade Runner 2049 & Dunkirk. I've never heard any sound at the cinema as piercing and sharp as the gunshots & Stuka sirens at my IMAX showing of Dunkirk. But since those 2 have already been mentioned, I'll add Sicario & Roma. The sound design in Roma at the cinema is perhaps the most impressive I've ever heard. The sound coming from so many different directions was amazing and made it feel so organic and real. Truly a tragedy that most people will never get the chance to see it on the big screen.
