Yes it's true! As a huge fan of LAURA, the flashbacking noir classic about a tec falling in love with a dead girl, I was aware of TV remakes (a 1955 one with G Sanders as Lydecker, Robert Stack as McPherson and Dana Wynter in the title role which is tolerable enough, and a 1968 TV version -also with Sanders & Stack, plus Lee Radziwill as Laura and Farley Granger as Shelby. Not seen that one)The Burt Reynolds thriller SHARKYS MACHINE borrowed plot elements wholesale (Rachel Ward was the femme fatale), and SYLVIA, with Carroll Baker and George Maharis uses the basic plot of the tec falling for his quarry as the supporting cast flashback eloquently about the title character. And there's a 1962 German version with Hildegarde Neff But I had no idea there was a B Western version from 1956, with John Bromfield investigating the death of lady gambler "The Princess" (Coleen Gray). Kent Taylor plays Waldo and Jim Davis is Shelby! FRONTIER GAMBLEREnjoy - and it is a great site generally for obscure stuff. Happy new year all!
