First off, this post is going to contain massive spoilers about the Ghost in the Shell movie. Be warned!
I know it's odd to start a thread in the Need to Know board filled with spoilers about a recent movie, but it's inevitable, unfortunately.
So, one last time: spoilers!
My question is about the main storyline in the movie. The main character realises she's not who she thinks she is. Her memories are fake, a cover up to conceal a crime basically.
That's pretty common and plain, but here's the scene I remember seeing before, almost literally:
The main character traces a lead back to an appartment building. She goes to check it out and finds a woman there, who is mourning the loss of her daughter, a rebellious girl who was anti-governement/technology. The main character realises that she herself is that lost daughter, but cannot tell the person sitting across from her as that person would never believe her. The main character has the mind of the lost girl, but is in a different body.
I'm certain I've seen this scene before, but I cannot recall when or where exactly. I'm not even certain if it was in an animé or a movie. It's been a while, I think, but again, I'm not sure how long exactly.
It's vague, but perhaps someone knows of this, or can confirm that I'm not entirely crazy for believing I've seen this before
