Am I wrong in saying that the Dark Knight is still the gold standard, previously by revenue and by still by critical acclaim, that DC films are help to? That's fair. 2008 was a banner year. IMO the gold standard that MCU is held to is still Iron Man (1st) which came out the same year.
2018 may end up being thought of the same way, with three cbm's reaching a billion world wide box office; especially if the DC movies continue a trend of being better.

Iron Man is still at the top of my list as well. I've replaced it with Winter Soldier a couple times but I always end up putting it back. I feel like it gets lost in the shuffle because so much of the MCU was built upon it. But at the time, having a quick-witted, arrogant, billionaire superhero that didn't give a damn about his secret identity was a bit more fresh back then. |
