Quick thoughts:
Alien: My favorite Ridley Scott, possibly my favorite horror film. Anyone that likes this should really play Alien Isolation, it's amazing how much of the mood and atmoshpere the game captures from the movie.
Aliens: Possibly my favorite Cameron film (it's either this or Terminator).
Alien 3: Not as good as the first two, but still a solid film. I'm not a huge Fincher fan but I do like the Alien franchise, so this is one of the better ones I've seen from him. A lot of the characters admittingly are rather generic and forgetable, though I do like Charles Sutton's perormance.
Alien Resurrection: A lot of dumb, silly things in this film (even if you mix Alien DNA with Ripley's, she's not just gonna have a baby Xenomorph inside her. That's not how cloning or the Alien lore works), Brad Douriff hamming it up, and it's basically a watered down retread of Aliens. Jeunet was a bit of an odd choice for director, the only other film I've seen was "A Very Long Engagement" (it was tediously dull). I'm not a huge fan of CGI, and this movie did come out when Hollywood really started using it, but they still incorporate quite a bit of animatronics, so it doesn't look that dated. Overall I didn't mind it though, but easily the worst of the main series (not counting AvP or the prequels)

Alien - Like you, it's my favourite Ridley Scott film and my favourite horror film to boot.
Aliens - I prefer Terminator 2, but this would be my second favourite work from Cameron.
Alien 3 - Like jamesbamesy above said, it's depressing but decent.
Alien: Resurrection - Some nice visuals don't save it from being the weakest entry in the series.

When it comes to " ALIEN 3", You should watch The Assembly Cut of it. It is almost a Completely Different (and much Longer) Movie. Also, It isn't "Charles Sutton". It is "Charles S. Dutton" and I agree, He was Freaking Awesome in the Movie.

but I admit to enjoying Aliens vs Predators in a weird way. Alien Vs Predator is basically a fun comic book movie. Requiem is unwatchable, however.

Rewatching Aliens recently was a slightly diminished experience in the light of Alien: Covenant.
The scene where Ripley and co are speculating where all the eggs come from I couldn't help but think 'It turns out it was Michael Fassbender'.
