I stumbled on the set of one of the "Transformers" films made in Chicago. I actually was able to snap a shot with my 35mm of Shia LaBoeuf (SP?) teetering precariously off of a building ledge before I was whisked off the set by a security guard.

A friend drove to his new apartment in a U-Haul and saw Friedkin, Pacino, and crew shooting a scene for Cruising, in which Pacino climbs a fire escape and breaks into an apartment. Months later, he saw the film and was horrified when his address, including exact apartment number, was mentioned. So, the world knew how to climb a fire escape and get into his place.
