The Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no signs of stopping.

Hopefully. YA movies are cancer.

I actually enjoyed The Death Cure for what it is. I think these types of movies have overstayed their welcome, but I wouldn’t mind having more.

it will be back, give it a few years.
what killed the ya phase was when all of them started splitting their last book in 2.
twilight, hunger games, divergent.
harry potter did it first but I never truly saw harry potter as YA. Harry potter or let me say the wizarding world was your standard fantasy series that appeal to kids , teen and grown ups equally.

It'll always be alive as long as there's a book series that's already very popular before the adaptations (like HARRY POTTER and TWILIGHT). What is dead is the Y.A. dystopian craze. It only lasted while THE HUNGER GAMES was still going. After the last one in 2015, the other ones in the genre have flopped (even if they were sequels to hits), like the one you mentioned in your O.P.

Not completely dead, but certainly has diminished.

There's that Doug Liman movie Chaos Walking set to be released in March. With Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley?

Finally watched the whole trilogy last week. Not bad indeed. Still, I think the 'dystopian' Y/A movies might be on the way out but the Y/A will carry on. Artemis Fowl is coming out soon and that looks more like a boys own adventure. With fairies.

I'd like to see Life As We Knew It adapted into a film. That book was great.

As others have already pointed out, we're most likely just done with the dystopian "subgenre" of the YA movie craze that began with The Hunger Games. But movies based on YA novels will still continue for a while as long as there exist a popular property at the moment adapt, and that there's still a commercial success for those kinds of movies.
