Most of them weren't improvements over the original broadcasts, except for the segment starring John Lithgow.

To me the worst was It's a Good Life, because of he overkill factor. And I really hated the syrupy sweet "Kick the Can" segment by Spielberg. They were all pretty poor, IMO.

The gremlin on the plane was my favorite.
I did like the segment about the bigot who has to endure every oppression experienced by the minorities he was making fun of.

Nightmare at 20,000 Feet is the only one I liked. "It's a Good Life" starts of well with the creepy mouthless girl and so on but goes into special effects overkill mode without any real substance after a while, a common problem with Dante's films. The rest I couldn't care less about. Overall this is not something to recommend.

I only liked the Dan Ackroyd part...I thought since I liked Tales From The Crypt & Darkside series & the 80's Twilight Zone series,I thought this movie would be great, but I was disappointed with the movie. I did not liked the movie, same goes with Tales from the darkside movie...
I prefered CreepShow

rank and rate the segments beginning with Aykroyd is one of the scariest segments out there. other than that - only one i really recall enjoying greatly is the ep on the plane.

The wrap around story is an 8
The first segment would be got a ten from me if they had been able to finish it so I give it a 6
The second 7
The last two both deserve tens

Prologue/epilogue: 8 Time Out: 8 Kick the Can: 1 (never a favorite episode of mine in the original series) It's a Good Life: 5, only because I can't remember it. Nightmare at 20,000 ft: 6 - what was the point of remaking perfection? And did they really need to make Lithgow's eyes pop? I kept rewinding to be sure what I was seeing.

Prologue/Epilogue - 9/10
Segment 1: 7/10. I actually had read up on how they were going to take this story had Vic Morrow and the kids hadn't gotten killed. It sounded like an excellent premise with his character's redemption.
Segment 2: 8/10. I am one of the few people that loved this segment. I'm not sure why it's so hated. It brought tears to my eyes.
Segment 3: 8/10. Very good twist of the original. Special effects were great for it's time.
Segment 4: 10/10. Loved this one.
Overall I loved this movie, however, the tragedy that happened during filming kind of overshadows it.

Kick the Can = 1 because I'm a Scatman Crothers fan. I also liked Mr. Agee as a boy. In fact he spoke my favorite line, "There's a destiny that shapes our ends, rough hewn though it may be."
Nightmare at 20,000 feet = 2. I still can't decide whether this John Lithgow segment is better than the old one with William Shatner or vice versa.
Its a good life = 3. It is similar to, but better than the old twilight zone eppy with Billy Mumy.
Time Out. I don't really rate it four. It is hard to rate it at all. Its a very good segment, but anything I get out of it is overshadowed by remembering that Vic Morrow and two children lost their lives during the filming of it. Actually that memory casts a pall over the whole movie for me to a degree.

The whole thing was a "why ?" for me. Write a new movie don't just "re-make" a successful tv show.
