Season finale is up in the next few days. What do fans on here think of the end of this season?

I've been one of the show's defenders long after people started bashing it, but this season has made that damn near impossible. I was hoping Morgan's performance as Negan would breathe some life (get it?) into the show, and while he's been good, he's hardly been used, and when he is, the rest of the episode is a drag.
And let's not pretend like we don't know how the finale's going to end. Right as the war begins, or maybe seconds before, the screen will cut to black, gunfire and screams/cries will be heard, see you in October.
If they pull that crap, and I'm about 99% sure they will, I'm pretty sure I'll be done with this show.

Well, it's mercifully over. I won't be returning unless I hear reports that season 8 is a miraculous improvement.

I've never actually watched it, but I always wondered, how do you drag out a show on zombies for 7 seasons? Even 2 seasons seems like it is pushing it? How many different ways can you possibly be chased by a zombie? Unless they start developing super intelligent qualities or something, but then wouldn't that make humans the new zombies?
If we were able to wipe out the Neanderthals using little more than our wits, then with today's technology we should be able to wipe out some stupid zombies before the week is even out.

The show isn't really about the zombies anymore insomuch as it's about the living, and the people they've been forced to become in order to stay alive. Threats arise in the form of various gangs of murderous bullies and scavengers who are eager to survive, whatever it takes, in a world that now has no need for law or morality.

Any significant characters that died? In the finale? Just Sasha. Not sure how she thought she could just rush into Neegan's base and kill him all by herself, but when that didn't work she poisoned herself so she could provide a split second distraction for Rick and co to kill nameless extras. Oh, the incredibly meaningful lives of black characters on The Walking Dead. I was really hoping this slow drag of a season was building up to a climatic finale at least, but absolutely nothing of significance happened. |
