...with those annoying cartoons or whatever with constantly yammering voices playing, even in public places like restaurants?
Well, do ya?

Earbuds, they don't need anyone else to hear.

No. I don't think it is good for children to spend the majority of their time in front of a tablet or a mobile phone 'cause it often leads to them having poor social skills and health problems when they are older but apparently children are no longer the only ones doing this now and there was a story about this on the news last year that said parents were spending more and more time on their mobile phones and the children wanted them to spend more time with them.

Yes, why shouldn't they? I have mine on practically all the time, seems unreasonably to object to theirs.

Not at all. When they’re out and about, turn it OFF!

Yeah it's definitely not limited to children. Many adults these days are addicted now too. I'm sick of always seeing people with their eyes glued to their stupid smartphones. What are they even looking at? It honestly baffles me. I know it's obviously some social media BS but other than that I really don't know. It's beyond me. Even my dad does it and it pisses me off so much. He's like a damn zombie flipping through his phone looking at god knows what all the time. It infuriates me and makes me want to slap the damn thing out of his hands and smash his phone into smithereens. The old him would have probably laughed at these kind of people but now he's become one himself. I truly don't get it. Midlife crisis I guess. He listens to crappy pop music now too. That's why I don't blame the children. They see what their parents are doing and follow, because they are too young and don't know any better.

I can't say I've noticed that too much. Adults on their devices piss me off far more. Kids don't know any better.

The sad thing is their parents buy it for them, and then allow them to use them with very little or no rules. That's the real problem. Take the fucking thing away from them now and then and they wont be on it all the time.

Apple calls them Ipads, mobile devices that are a handheld laptop. They connect to the net via wifi. They can range in size from about the size of a notepad, to about legal paper size.

To answer the original question. NO it is not necessary for kids to have them constantly on. In public places like restaurants they should either be Off, or be used with headphones, earpieces or at least very low volume. Young children get bored very easily so I wouldn't ban them from playing with them completely.
I was going to vote NO, but I didn't vote because I do not believe they should be outlawed. The main question is should they be constantly on Yes or No? The added criteria is a different poll all together.

It’s not necessary to have them on all the time, no. But I don’t think it should be outlawed either.

Seriously speaking, I wouldn't actually want them outlawed, though I wish people would be more courteous with their use in public places. I felt the same about cell phones about the time everyone started getting one. Did people learn to be more courteous with cell phones, or have I just learned to tune it out? I honestly don't know. Maybe a little column A, a little column B.
There might be a trade-off in that kids with their internet devices are less likely to be whining and screaming in public places, so they probably have some advantages. I'll leave it to child psychologists or developmental specialists as to whether frequent use is detrimental in the long run to children.

Should have had a 3rd choice "Something else". I would have chosen that.
I think it is good that kids spend a lot of time with modern technology. That is what the world is coming to.
But I also think it should be mandatory kids spend some time with technology turned off. 24/7 on electronic devices is not good for anybody.

Does it really matter what we think on this matter?
Parents of non-adult children are a bunch of pusssies.
Glad I chose non-parenthood.

This is how people get hit by cars.

My girlfriend's sister lets her 10 year old son play his tablet while sitting in the living room and everyone else is watching television! How hard would it be to just tell him to either play with his tablet in another room, or just watch television with everyone else?
