To be more specific: characters who are on either side of glass windows/doors/whatever who both put their hands up against the glass like they're touching hands. (That^ wouldn't have fitted in the subject heading, hence the abbreviated version). I watched the movie Morgan (2016) last night and saw this happen... And it reminded me that I've seen this (or something similar) play out in a lot of movies. I guess most would immediately think of Kirk and Spock in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) as an example of this. And then, of course, they did it again in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). But what are some other examples of movies where you've seen this occur? Two people touching on either side of a wall would be acceptable also.

I know this doesn't really count, but I wanted to post it anyway.

I was going to mention Midnight Express but someone beat me to it.
I don't recall exactly what movies I've seen it in but it seems like it's mostly been prison movies when I have.

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995).
There's actually no glass between them, but the circle of gangsters touch hands like that as a tradition they learned from prison visits where there was glass.

Not a movie, but there's a "Battlestar Galactica" episode where this happens -- Starbuck and Leoben.

Yes, it often seems to be when people are on either side of the glass at a prison, speaking on the phone, that they both touch the glass. Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995).
There's actually no glass between them, but the circle of gangsters touch hands like that as a tradition they learned from prison visits where there was glass.
That's^ still a good example, Sulla, as it shows they did a lot of the glass-touching in prison (which seems to be the popular place to do that). As for what 'counts' and what doesn't...things are pretty flexible as far as this thread is concerned. Not glass, but an ice wall separated Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and William Stryker (Brian Cox) in the 2003 movie X-Men 2. Not a movie, but there's a "Battlestar Galactica" episode where this happens -- Starbuck and Leoben. And if we're counting TV shows (which I've seen this happen in plenty of - maybe even more than in movies), the first which springs to mind would be Barry Allen and his father, Henry, in The Flash. Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I think I remember Project X (1987). The ending had Mathew Broderick and the monkey touching hands on the glass. Can anyone confirm?

I was rewatching Series/Season 4 of Sherlock, and in the last episode I saw this done a little bit 'differently' to how it typically seems to occur. Sherlock's just discovered he has a secret sister, goes to visit her in prison, and it looks like they're about to do the touching-hands-through-glass thing...and then it's revealed there is in fact no actual glass there and their hands connect - Sherlock certainly wasn't expecting that.
