I'd like to spend my last few moments thinking of my wife, family and other loved ones. I'm sure I'd be scared and all that but I like to think I'd be cognizant enough to have my last few moments be spent in the way I want.

I'm pretty sure I'll feel the way any animal does at death. Certainly won't be striking bargains with a judgmental POS.

Having a sense of humor isn't a sin, and I'm not recruiting anyone. I'm not that interested in other people's beliefs. Well, sorry if you couldn't see the humor in my comment. Pointing out the irony and such. I also never called you a recruiter. But you must have some interest in people's beliefs. You did start this thread after all. More irony in that.

Only a fool would say they know for sure there is a God. And only a fool would say they know for sure there isn't a God. The truth is, NO ONE knows for sure. I've got my faith though, and it makes me happy. I agree with the first 2 sentences. It liberating to not have a claim to have to prove. I've just never accepted any of the 4200 or so gods put forth by man. I reject 1 more god than non-atheists do.

I mean, you did lead off with this: I didn't think you were being serious with this topic, to be honest. I'm an atheist but I'm not going to give anyone a hard time about their beliefs. You asked people to chime in, they did.

What if it's someone who is still following all of the greek gods?

In a Black Mirror sort of scenario you can just download your personality into some AI type deal and extend those moments. Technological afterlife.

None of your three previous responses in this thread seemed all that humorous, I must of missed the joke. And you bringing up "Christian recruiters" made me think that's what you thought I was doing with this thread. Whoops, wrong again. I start threads for interesting conversation, and I think atheists are off their rockers, so I said "what the Hell, let's give her a go".

All you heathens, with your intellect and confidence, you all better hope you're right.
Or as Ricky use to say to Lucy...."you got some 'splaining to do"
Peace be with you, my friends.

A sense of irony and self reflection certainly would illiminate the humor there, but no worries. I didn't think you were actually thinking of sexually assaulting people in your last moments. And no I didn't mean to suggest that you're recruiting anyone, but you'd have to admit that loads of Christians do that. And it certainly is an interesting detail that Dante Alighieri's vision of hell has just been accepted as the broad view, including by clergy. People spout that off thinking that they are referencing their religion when their actually referencing poetry. Don't know what 'wrong again' is supposed to be in reference to, but if you're saying I'm wrong for thinking you have any interest in anyone's beliefs, then you're not making sense. If you're starting a thread looking to spark interesting conversations with regards to people's beliefs but your not interested in people's beliefs then that logic is as flawed as religious logic.

Pascal's Wager is the weakest reason of all to believe in a deity. Eternal suffering and hell fire if you don't believe in me?

Fair enough, perhaps what I should have said is I'm not interested in changing anyone's beliefs. No big problem with you from this end.

are Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect everyone's right to practice or not practice whatever they want. I was just pointing out you made the blanket statement "you will find that atheists do not claim to know for sure that God does not exist" which is not true. I say no god exists. Thats just me. But atheists in general do not "claim to know for sure..." I was talking about the atheists of religion board. I clarified that there are rare atheists who claim to know for sure that god does not exist. lol, not rare. Most atheists think for sure there is no god. It's not remotely rare. Do we know for sure. No, no one does. But we're pretty sure.

Only a fool would say they know for sure there is a God. And only a fool would say they know for sure there isn't a God. That's my answer verbatim when it comes to my argument for being an agnostic. All the stupid stuff that humans get wrong and we think we know this one? Preposterous.
