Just wondering what you all are planning to do with for the 3-day cold snap starting tomorrow. Do you plan on going to work/school on Wednesday?
We've all heard Wednesday will be the worst of it with a high around -16. I hear the morning will bring frostbite in as little as 10 minutes if you're outside.

In MN. Going to be coldest day in over 20 years on Wed. -29 degrees and -60 wind chill. Frost bite in less than 5 minutes. My employer is refusing to close. They're saying an entire generation has never felt this kind of cold before. Do you plan on going to work? Why would your employer make you work in such life-threatening weather conditions?

Do you plan on going to work? Why would your employer make you work in such life-threatening weather conditions? Part of it is that we're from MN. Here you are expected to go to work in even the worst winter storms. My employer sent an email to all their employees today telling us to bring a blanket in our cars in case of emergency. If my car starts I'll go. Well I wish you luck if you have to keep your car outside. You'll be testing the limits of your battery.

It's colder than a witches' boob (today wasn't too too bad) and I sub for the Chicago public school system and I am pretty sure that when it's get to that bitter, bitter cold snap, they're not going to have students outside waiting for the bus. It won't happen. So it's not official, yet, but I am pretty sure that at least Wednesday and Thursday are going to be non-work days. Where in Illinois do you live, by the way?

I'm tempted to put a cup of water outside Wednesday morning and time how quickly it will freeze.

I couldn't stand that kind of cold. I would never want to leave indoors. It gets boiling hot where I am, but I can cope as best and I am warm blooded.
If it’s hot you should try becoming a cold blooded critter.

I’m in the suburbs of Ill . I’m in HVAC sales so it’s gonna be crazy busy. So yeah, I’ll be going in to work on Wednesday...maybe.

I'm north of you-WI. Have to work. But I don't expect too many to come out, especially tomorrow. Milwaukee Public schools have been closed 3 days. If they closed today, I'll assume they'll be closed tomorrow. Don't remember ever having a snow day growing up.

My sister moved to Evanston last year for work and she doesn't like the cold at all, I wonder how she will cope this time!

Well today is the big day for the cold. How are you all holding up?
I put a cup of water in the garage earlier today to see if it would freeze and it did. Lol.

My employer did cave a little though. Sounds like they're closing at 3pm today. AAA won't come out to jump your car unless you're dying. They just tell you to call back tomorrow lol. I can't imagine what it was like to feel that extreme cold hit you even while bundled up.
