At the end of any given season, I spend about a week wondering what it is I did with my spare time before the season started. Then I embrace the freedom of not having to follow the team for a few months.

to me - a sports teams season has turned 365/12- it's an all year event for your teams.
to me - some of the fun - in lets say the NBA - is following the Draft, Free Agency Period, Summer League and Exhibition Season...
how your team will be molding the roster for the upcoming season.
same with the NFL Draft - I mean - the NFL Draft is pretty much a party to go along with free agency, mini camps, OTAs, the preseason, roster cuts.......
I love listening to sports talk while barbecuing, reading a book and drinking a beer in the summer when the phils aren't on and everyone is geared up for the Eagles in July.

Following offseason moves is completely different than tuning into the game every night/week. Much less stressful. Also you couldn't pay me to listen to sports talk radio at any time, during the season or otherwise.

Video Games, movies, tv shows. I have other hobbies too but those are the closest to replacing tv time.

Why don't you like local Boston Sports Talk Radio? Well... that's not Boston. Point taken though.

The same reason I don't like national sports talk radio. It's mostly negative and not very insightful. At its worst it's 'hot take' nonsense that serves no purpose other than to rile up the fanbase so they keep listening.

I play video games. I'm also a guitar player in a band, so I spend a decent amount of time practicing, playing shows, and writing songs.

We have 2 giant sports talk channels in Philly (I can't imagine life without them) - 94.1 WIP and 97.5 The Fanatic. Both have hosts with multiple contrasting personalities. You have the butt munching homers when our team can do no wrong, Mr. Negative (as you stated) - the nauseating no talent former player who has '0' to contribute and you wonder how he has a job - but all in all - I find it a place(s) I fall back on most for entertainment/sports news to get me through a workday, driving down the shore, going to the store, barbecuing in the summer - to me - well - I can't imagine life without them

Since my three favorite sports are Baseball, College Basketball and College Football, I don't really have an offseason. The NCAA Basketball final is usually on the opening week of baseball.
