Oh, I don’t mind multiple villains, especially when it’s well-done, the way Nolan did it. I just don’t think Loeb’s usual all-villains’-cameo tactic will work for the movies.

Multiple villains can work when they are thugs and can be easily changed for another or if they are themed with the story (like Batman Begins). Doesn't work when you try to give them all equal parts and then switch them out through the movie.

Batman movies really should have 3-4 villains in them, even if they’re just cameos. His rogues gallery basically run everyday life in Gotham. Falconi is a big Batman villain, along with Zsasz, Scarecrow, Ras, and Bullock... Batman Begins intergrated the rogues properly. Every other movies has been lacking, you don’t need to reduce the main villain to give the rogues their due.

I wonder how they’ll play it out. Just as long as there’s a head honcho.

Rumor is that Penguin is calling the shots. Great! I wonder who should play him? People keep saying Josh Gad and I don’t see it. Personally I’d love it if Sean Penn was cast. He already played a Batman villain in Gangster Squad. He was a riot in that.

Meh... I was hoping they'd get back to basics. One hero. One villain.
When you pit Batman against multiple villains, and he inevitably emerges triumphant, it only underscores how OP he is.

it can work. check out this batman tas episode. its one of the best
See us comic fans, we know what we are talking about. maybe you mcu fans should do more research about comic stories than eating whatever basic jokey junk food disney feeds you

Sadly, I don’t watch cartoons. Thanks anyway. I’m still thinking multiple villains is a bit lazy. The real challenge would be to define a single threat that tests the hero’s core philosophy. It’s more immediate. Most often, second and third villains end up only being distractions.

I’m not exactly sure, reading the article over again, what “a full rogues’ gallery” means. It seems to mean everybody, or at least all the famous ones (and maybe a few not-so-famous ones), but then we get this: “As for which specific villains will make up this rogues gallery, Reeves was predictably tight-lipped,” which seems to imply that there will be a few villains that Reeves will choose— à la every Batman movie except for ’89. For me, it would just strain my disbelief too much to see Bats fighting everyone over the course of a single story. While Jeph Loeb was able to make it seem organic in TLH and (to a lesser degree) DV, I don’t think even he was able to pull it off in Hush, where many of the villains’ appearances felt like padding. (One notable exception: while I can’t stand the Harley Quinn character and would have replaced her with the Joker, her opera heist both furthers the story and would be interesting to see on-screen.) On the other hand, the BTAS episode summers8 put above is an excellent example of doing this kind of thing right (a more serious version, perhaps, of the Adam West Batman movie—amazing how, for all that show’s camp and goofiness, its premises and plots were both good and influential).

So comic fans are not MCU fans, and MCU fans are not fans of comics!. Well I can think of at least one exception. That is based on fact. What is your assumption based on?

As long as they don't reuse the Nolan trilogy villains. No more Joker. If this movie has Riddler and Penguin I may actually go see it.
