Zack Snyder's Justice League was a real turning point for the DC Extended Universe. Snyder, who had to step down during filming due to the sudden death of his daughter, was replaced by Joss Whedon, who helped wrap production and complete extensive reshoots. Upon the film's release, it had a polarizing effect on fans and critics alike, many of whom were left calling for the release of Snyder's directors cut.
However, while we may never see the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League, filmmaker, writer and avid comic book fan Kevin Smith recently spoke with crew members who worked on both Snyder and Whedon's version of the film in London during Smith's visit to the set of Star Wars: Episode IX. During the discussion, they shared details about where Snyder had planned to take the franchise, which was apparently the first part of a planned trilogy.
According to the crew members, they saw storyboards drawn by artist and current co-publisher of DC Comics Jim Lee, which detailed the events for all three movies. Justice League was more or less the same movie we saw, with the League uniting, resurrecting Superman and fighting Steppenwolf and his Parademons. The only major difference is that at the end, when Steppenwolf was defeated, we would have seen his commander, the tyrannical ruler of Apokolips known as Darkseid, look on at the League through the Boom Tube portal before it closed.
The sequel would have had the League leave Earth and travel to Apokolips to confront Darkseid, leading to a colossal battle that would most likely involve New Genesis, Darkseid's rival planet and home to the New Gods. The battle would have involved the Green Lanterns, as well, who were apparently supposed to be referenced in Justice League beyond the brief flashback cameo. In fact, originally, Jeremy Irons' Alfred was talking to Green Lantern, not Superman, when he said, "Let's hope you're not too late," in one of the film's trailers. The crew had even shone green light around Alfred to simulate the glow from Green Lantern's power ring.
Despite the heroes' best efforts, the film would have had ended with the League defeated and Darkseid coming to Earth, where he "levels it."
The end of the trilogy would have taken place in the post-apocalyptic world Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne saw during the Knightmare dream sequence in Justice League. With their world decimated, the League would have gathered together one last time for their final stand against Darkseid and his Apokoliptian forces.
With the usual content we'd expect from Smith's enthusiastic interviews, the filmmaker sums up the obvious at the end. "I really feel like hearing what we heard, we might have missed something."

Thanks for sharing that Biz. After hearing about some of Zack's plans for the DCEU I am really glad he is no longer running things and I think it is awful what happened to his daughter and couldn't begin to imagine what that must have felt like for him as a parent but I truly believe him going was for the greater good and the DCEU has a chance of getting better without him. As I have said before, what they need is Scott Snyder. They picked the wrong Snyder. Put Scott in charge of the Bat Universe movies.

I think the plans for JL part 1 were better but part 2 sounds stupid, now if you switch it a little it makes a bit more sense, part 2 has Darkseid come to earth himself, but he comes alone plus parademons the League now presumably larger including Shazam & Green Lantern, maybe you add camero appearances from the Suicide Squad, BOP, the Bat Fam during parts of the films mostly during the climatic invasion battle fight elsewhere in the world which also includes the Amazons & Atlantians fending off the forces of Apokolips, basically live action Justice League War, the League fends of Darkseid but doesn't truly defeat him leading to the League planning to regroup and take the fight to Darkseid for once.
Having them provoke Darkseid at all prior to he himself coming to earth basically places the blame for him doing so on them, no have him attack first then they strike back, rather than them defeat a possible scout which may have backed him off until they attack him and there by bring about his onw retaliation, the nightmare stuff just make it something they work to avoid, like it's a side effect of Barry from that future trying to contact Bruce, Bruce gets flashes of that future which is why they ultimately take the fight to Darkseid because Barry also warns him, you cant wait, you have to stop him before it starts, this could also be something they use to get the New Gods to help them out as they understand these aren't nightmares but visions or whatever.
Only thing I think is this kind of sounds like bullshit, all we ever heard was JL was meant to be a 2 part story and that was Zack's run done, where did a 5th movie and a JL trilogy come from all of a sudden? I recall hearing BVS, JL 1 & 2 were meant to be essentially a trilogy not he had a trilogy of JL films planned out.

I remember reading Zack Snyder saying in an interview he had plans to bring in a lot of other superheroes in 'Justice League 2' 'cause he was saying about female superheroes and mentioned having Black Canary and Zatanna among with others and if they had added a lot more superheroes like he was saying the second movie would have ended up being very different and I would say Darkseid would have had to have a much larger army to justify having so many. As much as I would love to Zatanna in live action I think having her and Black Canary debut in 'Justice League 2' out of the blue like that would have been a mistake and we have talked about movies cramming too many superheroes into one and the consequences of how they don't get much time to show their backstory and and the characters suffer 'cause of it and I agree with you with that. I feel 'Justice League' was made too early but I am wondering if that was Zack's fault or Warner Bros' fault and Warner Bros rushed him into having 'Justice League' to have a lot of heroes together in one movie.

I think it was WB rushing him, which given what else they did such as giving just 6 weeks for the Suicide Squad script to be written, actually placing the films so close together, choosing not to introduce the other League members prior to appearing in BVS or JL, WB were desperate for that Avengers money which is why they rushed into BVS also, Zack just happened to be the type of dingbat to think doing so was a good idea.
Not like Snyder was a Nolan, Spielberg, Abrams who could write his own ticket he had one big hit under him with 300 and the only other successful film was the Dawn of the Dead remake he made, Guardians, Watchmen & Sucker Punch were all flops, if he tried flexing on them then they would easily just bounce him, I mean look at how they treated him after MOS & BVS both of which made them money, if that's how they treat a guy who made them several hundred million dollars in profit in a row imagine how they treated him when he cost them over easily 100 million due to 3 back to back flops.

Eh, watching Man of Steel and also Watchmen, it's clear the tone he had in mind. I remember when MoS came out, someone I know saw it asked what I thought; and my best description was, "it was just 'ok'" and they agreed. So when BvS came out, and what I saw of it, I definitely wasn't rushing to the theater to see it - not that I do anyway, but less so with that movie. And the more I read about it, the less I wanted to see it; and still haven't. I know the gist of the plot; and it definitely had a domino effect with JL. I still want to see Wonder Woman. I know that's good and just life has sort of gotten in the way of me getting around to it, but there's also this sort of carryover effect from the other movies and knowing they're connected... It doesn't necessarily detract from it, but there's definitely tarnish.

Yeah. You are probably right there. When studios rush directors to make movies it never turns out to be good and it was Sony trying to rush Sam Rami’s ‘Spider-Man 4’ which killed the franchise and if he had only been given more time (like he asked for) we would have gotten a ‘Spider-Man 4’ and it may have been better than the other ‘Spider-Man’ movies but instead the two lead actors quit the movie franchise and we got a reboot that many fans didn’t think was as good as the first trilogy and it went on to get cancelled after the second movie and that was after Sony had announced all these plans to have six movies and multiple Spiderverse spinoffs. I have to say after what I read about ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ having Emma Stone set to return as SpiderGwen from the alternate universe I would have looked to have seen that though and it would have been interesting to see Emma play the hero.
The DCEU is kinda like a repeat of what Sony did with the Spiderverse the first two times and looking at all the things I have read about the upcoming DC movies in the last few weeks from the directors I think the DCEU is officially dead especially with them saying they are not going to be connected to all the previous movies, Ben Affleck getting replaced as Batman, Henry Cavil and Ezra Miller’s futures in doubt, ‘Cyborg’ looking unlikely and not to mention Will Smith no longer playing Deadshot and I may be wrong but I think Gal Gadot, Margot Robbie and the actor playing Aquaman will be the only ones who will stay on but they will mostly pretend the other movies didn’t exist. While I think there is still a chance Henry Cavil won’t get replaced I think Jared Leto and Jesse Eisenberg are out and with ‘The Joker’ solo movie coming out this year they should just make Joaquin Phoenix the permanent Joker going forward if the movie is successful.
Jesse was always a bad choice for Lex Luthor and we all know he stole the role from Terry O'Quinn as the Terry fans said (lol) and I think Terry might be too old to play Lex now but I think they should cast an older actor in the role or somebody who is at least the same age as Henry ‘cause I think Lex being that young looks silly since most versions have always been older than Clark and it is like having Q as a teenage boy in the James Bond movies. I don’t know anybody who liked that decision and the boy wasn’t funny for one and Q was always meant to be the comic relief and they had James play around with him in their scenes together. They should make Rowan Atkinson Q ‘cause I could see him being great in the role and it would be funny after the ‘Johnny English’ films he has made which are meant to be parodies of the James Bond movies to have him play Q. I remember he was in one of the Bond movies when he was younger but I can’t recall which one.
I agree with you that they should have introduced the other members separately and I have said for ages one of the biggest mistakes with the DCEU was not having ‘The Batman’ as the second film and skipping ahead to having Batman and Superman together early. They should have had at least three Batman and Superman movies before having them meet and they could have used those movies to set up the Bat Family and Supergirl but Zac Snyder revealed late last year he planned on having Kara in the DCEU and having a ‘Supergirl’ movie and I don’t know how he was planning on bringing Kara in to it ‘cause there was supposedly a ‘Man of Steel’ graphic novel that said Kara arrived on earth years before Clark but it probably would have turned out she was a different Kara Supergirl was named after. If they could do it again from scratch I think they should have gone with Man of Steel, The Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter as the first six movies followed by Supergirl, Teen Titans, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Batgirl, Nightwing, Justice League, Zatanna, Booster Gold, Birds of Prey, Doctor Fate etc etc.

What a way to fuck up something people were enjoying. What the hell was Sony thinking after how much the third movie made? Was that the most successful film series in history to be cancelled before the next movie could come out because I haven’t heard of any others that had a movie that made more than the first 2 and was cancelled. That was some stupid, stoopid shit there.
