Here's one for my adoptive NL team, the Giants..... 1B- Willie McCovey 2B- Jeff Kent SS- Brandon Crawford 3B- Matt Williams LF- Barry Bonds CF- Willie Mays RF- Kevin Mitchell C- Mel Ott (sorry Buster) SP- Madison Bumgarner RP- Rod Beck Pretty good lineup, if you ask me The stuff about Kevin Mitchell in "The Bad Guys Won" about the 1986 Met team is crazy. He was an absolute wild man and basically any time a fight broke out, Kevin Mitchell ran into the fray and started throwing widowmakers. Here's a good one:

I’ll do it in batting order. No DH. 1. Cobb - CF 2. Hornsby - 2B 3. Ruth - RF 4. Williams - LF 5. Gehrig - 1B 6. Schmidt - 3B 7. Wagner -SS 8. Bench - C RHP - Gibson LHP - Carlton Closer - Rivera But isn't your list consisted of raging alcoholics - including Ruth who was allegedly notoriously drunk/hung over on game days ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif)

That one caught me off guard so I went and looked it up because I didnt' know he caught and he didn't. Not one game in the Majors. I always thought Mel Ott was a catcher....oh well, screw him, now I can put Buster Posey there, that's really what I wanted to do anyways.

Well, you call Piazza a steroid guy, and rightly so btw, and he's in the Hall of Fame. So I guess that means Bonds and Clemens should be there too. Good to see you finally coming around. 👍

Here's a nice 5-man rotation of drugged out pitchers.....
Bill Lee Oil Can Boyd Doc Ellis Dennis Eckersley Tim Lincecum
I'll take my chances with that rotation, and it would be a REAL fun clubhouse.

That also happened around 2000 when I called Bonds a steroid guy. There are at least three juicers in the hall right now, Piazza, Bagwell and Irod. But when Bonds and clemens go in, I'm done.

I don't think Hornsby drank either, claiming booze interfered with hitting. No shortage of drinking ballplayers, Rube Waddell, Pete Alexander, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, Hack Wilson.

Beer & whiskey aren’t banned substances and they don’t exactly enhance your performance either. Imagine Mantle’s numbers if he was sober.

And the entire '93 Phillies ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif) speaking of oldtimers there's a pretty cool story about Ty Cobb - who's ghost allegedly haunts a 'motel' in the Western Burbs here - place is the size of a postage stamp with a bar and rooms on top to rent out - i.e. it's like more of a bar / motel. on the bucket list to spend a night there as I love that crap - i.e. stories about haunted legendary places.......

Hate to say it, but I would bet Kirby Puckett. Had all the traits, sudden power hitting, rapidly change in body shape, roid rage, short career, short life, "no neck syndrome". Canseco said he did but that could be a pot-kettle thing.

But isn't your list consisted of raging alcoholics - including Ruth who was allegedly notoriously drunk/hung over on game days ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif) Who gives a shit if they’re alcoholics or not? Can't one argue that alcohol can enhance your performance if you're a raging alcoholic and need your 'medicine' to come down off the shakes and settle you down?

So by your rational, guys who are taking stuff to enhance their performance are worse than guys who get so wasted the night before that they can barely play until that first beer around the third inning?
