There's about half a dozen mentions of January abstinence accompanying these photographs, such as "Up and down the country, people decided to give up alcohol during the month of January"
It reads like they're referring to the folk in these photos. Come off it, pal - pull the other one, it plays Hey Jude.

Looks like a regular Saturday Night in downtown Sydney.....
Admittedly, it doesn’t get anywhere near as cold in Sydney as Newcastle, but winter isn’t exactly warm in here either.......
