I'd be curious to know how many people (total) have died as a direct result of being hit by a batted ball (or by a bat, or a shattered bat, or by a player flying into the stands, if that (and I doubt it has) ever actually happened) in all MLB parks in the history of the game. Anybody ever come across any info on this........and if not, just wondering what most people think that number MIGHT actually be (in other words, are we most likely talking about tens, twenties, thirties, HUNDREDS of people who have died.......or is it not even THAT many (so, less than ten)??) ?? Anyone ?? SAVE FERRIS

Worst I ever witnessed in person was at Yankee Stadium in 2012. It was Johan Santana's first start after his "no-hitter" and my buddy and I had Legends Suite tickets so we were right on the field on the 3B side. Early on in the game, a laser beam foul ball nailed some dude in the head, he was maybe 20 or so feet from us and it was a direct shot right into his temple. Blood everywhere, paramedics and stadium personnel surrounded him within seconds. It looked absolutely brutal, but he walked out of there on his own eventually. I'm sure he was concussed, unless he was Wolverine.
I've seen other people get hit with foul balls and home runs countless times, but usually it's on the arm, or it hits them in the body. That was the only time I saw a direct head shot like that. Gotta keep your head in the game, especially if you're that close.
During that game, Robbie Cano hit 2 2-run bombs off Santana, one of which I think still hasn't landed. Absolute moonshot.

That's nothing... I had a tray of chips and curry sauce knocked out of my hands by a stray football during a game ☹️
Everyone cheered, my dogs had an unexpected feast, but I was left bereft.

Not sure if this has been done in rinks in other leagues/levels of hockey.

Here's an article about a book dealing with death and the sport of baseball. Near the end of the article it mentions one death from a foul ball in 150 years (end of 2007) of MLB. The book mentioned in the article is called Death At The Ballpark.
