I wonder what odds you'd have gotten on Fed to win the first three major titles (one slam, two masters series) of 2017 back in early January. 70, 80 to 1, if not more probably.

A lot more, he was around 15-20/1 for the AO - odds which lengthened to as long as 30/1 once the draw came out. For Indian Wells wells and Miami maybe he'd have been about 10/1 if the bookies were being tight. You're looking at well over 1000/1 for the treble.

The man! Does it back to back. I don't know about odds and all that, but I didn't give him much of a chance to oust Nadal at the Aussie open after watching him lose so many finals in the last several years and a lot of them being to Nadal. But then on top of that he smoked him in back to back masters events showing us all that it was no fluke. His backhand has gotten better at this point in his career which is nothing short of spectacular.

There is much healthy respect (and affection) between the two. Did you hear Roger's speech about Rafa -- recalling the early days when he first met Rafa as just almost a boy at the Miami Open?
The next arena will be the clay season and it seems RF has already announced that he is not inclined to play much during the clay season, except maybe at Roland Garros ( although Nicholas Mahut thinks RF might also skip that and practice immediately for the grass court and Wimbledon). We'll see! Being a Nadal fan, I am keen for the clay season to start ( the first one will be Monte Carlo which he has won many times but which is missing from Roger's list of Masters titles).
It has been almost a topsy turvy year -- as Murray and Djokovic have also not been very consistent. While the "next generation" are now waiting very closely at the sidelines, the two oldest top players, Federer and Nadal, are still there and swinging their rackets ( Roger with his backhand and Rafa with his forehand)!
Wimbledon will also be exciting... and who knows how the US Open will stack up this year!

I am not impressed with this "younger generation" of players. For the first time in decades, nobody in their early 20's has really broken through and all the guys over 30 or pushing 30 are the guys that are still on top.

Huh? Kyrgios is looking more and more like a legit talent when he wants to win.

I'm not sure my post was worthy of a "Huh?", but I was very impressed with him. The rest of the guys that everybody thought were going to break through never did in a major way and they're already approaching their mid 20's
