Just saw Wilson today. I really like Woody Harrelson, and I liked the Skeleton Twins (the director Craig Johnsons previous flick). But this one, wow, this one was hard to like.
There was not a single character that had ANY relatable or even redeemable traits. People were walking out of the theatre. I stayed, purely because I wanted to see if it would get better toward the end, but it didn't.
I know adapting comic strips must be especially hard, but this had such odd (poor) script, that not even the likes of the great Laura Dern and Woody Harrelson could save it. And talk about completely wasted Mary Lynn Rajskub and Judy Grier.
He was not "hilariously honest" and "charmingly neurotic". He was just an infantile person with terrible social skills and even worse judgement. But even if he was unlikable it would be fine if he was funny. But this mess didnt even result in comedy, sadly, just one cringeworthy moment after another.
Anyone else has seen it and has thoughts on what this was and why it was so bad? Or… did you enjoy it??

I was considering this film because of Woody. I guess I'll skip it. Thanks for posting. Woody is usually so selective in what he's in anymore, I thought for sure it would be a gem

He was so great in Edge of Seventeen - if you have not seen that, thats a great movie. But here, it was like he was trying to act like Woody Allen - in the neurotic parts, and then like Sheldon or someone on the spectrum in the "blunt" parts, but in the end it was almost unwatchable. Sadly. Because I like the director and most of the actors.

yeah, I would recommend to skip this one. Try Edge of 17 or Lost In London instead! He is great in both. Plus Lost in London is a pretty interesting movie on its own.

The audience I was with had the same reaction to A CURE FOR WELLNESS.

The audience I was with had the same reaction to A CURE FOR WELLNESS. yeah, cure for wellness was an oddball as well, but to me it was at least visually appealing enough to stay. but i agree about little to no likable/redeemable characters in that one too.
