I finally saw Aquaman this weekend. What the heck? Why all the praise? I heard some compare it to The Dark Knight!!!!! What? Have you ever seen The Dark Knight. There is nothing that Aquaman does better except maybe some action. The Dark Knight blows this movie away. Was it terrible? No, but it was a 5/10 at absolute best. The acting was horrendous. Like, seriously terrible. I understand that Jason is a good looking guy and women love him, but the dude cannot act AT ALL. Also, the dialogue was atrocious. Some of the lines were out of a bad Saturday morning cartoon. After all of the praise and money this movie received, I was expecting way better.
I then started thinking about the DCEU vs. MCU debate that goes on so much. This is a childish and ridiculous debate at this point. My two favorite Super Heroes are Superman and Batman. I would see anything these guys are in. I am not some MCU fanboy, but they just make far better films. It is pretty much just a fact at this point. Aquaman is supposed to be the DCEUs best. Wonder Woman and Man of Steel were FAR better. Name me one MCU movie worse than Aquaman? You can't. Thor 2 is usually considered the worst, but I would argue it is a better film. It certainly has better writing and acting. Is it a great film? No, but it is better than this. |

You mentioned Thor 2,i will say it had potential unlike ragnerok,dark world at least had tje best character from the franchise

Ant-man and the Wasp.
I watched both movies within a couple weeks and Aquaman is significantly better.
If I was to name more I'd also say
The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor 2, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Ant-man and I could probably get a couple more in.

Thor 2 is weaker IMO. It’s fun but nothing noteworthy. There are plenty of MCU movies I think are below Aquaman. If Aquaman is an 8/10 for me, then these are 6-7.5/10:
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2 (the worst)
Iron Man 3
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The First Avenger

I put it around the same level as Age of Ultron which makes it a middling MCU movie in my list.

A lot of their sequels really
...I don’t even dislike any of these movies. I simply enjoyed Aquaman better.

I can't name an MCU movie that is worse than Aquaman. I can name 2 that I find to be about equal in entertainment value to Aquaman. Those are Iron Man 3 and Thor the Dark World. I like both of those movies very much but they are my least favorite MCU movies and Aquaman is about on the same level as they are. I give all 3 8/10.

I agree that Aquaman is really not that good. It's all style over substance. A fun ride, but a very superficial one.
As far as MCU movies though it's better than Ant Man 2, Iron Man 3 and Thor TDW. And probably about equal to Age of Ultron.
