He was the absolute best thing about BvS and one of the few bright spots in Suicide Squad, his costume was comic accurate and scenes of him in action felt like they were stripped right out of the Arkham games, his voice modulated voice also sounded pretty badass. Justice League it almost felt like an entirely different character but the blame for that goes to WB and their studio meddling with Zack Snyder's original cut of the film, but even so he did fine given the circumstances I thought.
It's a shame - I really wanted to see more of him as The Dark Knight and interact more with Jeremy Irons' Alfred and JK Simmons' Jim Gordon, have an actual confrontation with Jared Leto's Joker, and face off against Deathstroke in a movie. Also to see the rest of the Bat family, Red Hood being told on the big screen, and the rest of his rogues gallery with just as much experience in crime as his Bruce Wayne had with stopping it.
I'm sure Matt Reeves will deliver a great movie but the idea of a younger Batman in his early years in activity doesn't interest me as much - we already saw it in Batman '89 with Keaton, Nolan's Batman trilogy, and soon on TV with Gotham.
I think we really missed on an Affleck directed/written/starred Batman movie, Jay Olivia says the script was the best Batman movie script he'd ever read in his life, I honestly think it will go down as one of the best superhero movies never made.
Affleck leaving along with Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, JK Simmons as Gordon, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, and Larry Fishburne as Perry White(Which have all been rumored for some time now) severely decreases my interest in the DCEU going forward, and if Gal Gadot is done with Wonder Woman and Margot Robbie is done with Harley Quinn after their trilogies are over I don't know how I can still have interest, even if Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Zachary Levi stick around as Aquaman, Mera, and Shazam I don't think it'll be enough for the fanboy in me. Hate to sound pessimistic and everything, but right now I'm just pretty let down.

I was a fan of his version, and I would have liked to have seen him in a solo movie. He’s kind of a strange choice for the role, but he did a good job in BvS (not as much in JL). Anyone know if the powers that be are keeping Irons and Simmons in their parts? They’re great choices for the roles.

Simmons and Irons are both unsure if they will be back in any more movies, Alfred's already been recast in The Joker but that's a much younger interpretation and likely set in a different continuity.

I do. I actually thought he was the best Batman yet, with the only problem in his portrayals being a weak director and script. He definitely had the best costume and was head and shoulders above other portrayals in fighting ability. And a Batman vs. Deathstroke film sounds way more interesting than another Batman vs. Joker/Riddler/Two-Face/Penguin <insert psychological villain here> movie.
At this point they should just stop making Batman movies till they understand what to do with the character.

I wanted him to remain Batman. That futuristic vision in BvS where Batman is fighting off those parademons in the apocalyptic earth can only have been pulled off by Ben Afflecks Batman. And it would have been great to see if WB continued with their JL movies.

I much prefer he stayed Batman. I didn't care for the films he was in but I enjoyed what he was doing with the character and would love to have seen a trilogy with him. Having a seasoned Batman was perfect.

Keaton had always been my favorite- I never cared for Bale's Batman or Bruce Wayne. When they announced Ben Affleck was going to be the new Bruce Wayne, I was ecstatic. I'd been a fan of his, lowkey, for years and I thought he'd do a really good job in the role. Heck, the guys friends used to tease in interviews about him being such a big nerd for Batman that he had an actual bat-cave type thing at his house at one point. Then they showed the first photo of him, in the suit, next to the latest edition of the Batmobile. I swear, I barely had to have any provocation that day at work, to start geeking out about Batman in the new movie. Even though I wasn't sure I would like the new Superman movie, thinking with all the characters they were promising to introduce that it would turn into a bloated dud, yet I knew I'd love Batman no matter what else happened with the movie
Then, they were announcing other actors and their roles, they had more photos, and at last a trailer. There was Comic Con. There were interviews and such. I got so excited, I practically begged my best friend (A life long Batman fan herself) to see it with me (She hates Superman and she hadn't been a Wonder Woman fan, so trying to talk her into a DC movie that wasn't a Batman solo feature, was nearly a Herculean task). We went to see it, and I came out really liking the movie (it has it flaws, but that's for another thread) while she hated it, but she had two good things to say about it: "The new Batman is really good, I want more of it", and, "When WONDER WOMAN comes out, we are seeing it opening weekend, no arguments".
Then, the process starts over again with JUSTICE LEAGUE, plus teasing the upcoming BATMAN solo film. I was so looking forward to seeing Snyder getting to tackle the LEAGUE movie and I was really looking forward to seeing what BATMAN would look like with Affleck at the helm as producer, director, having a hand in the script, as well as acting the lead role. He was announcing who the bad guy would be, that Irons was staying on as Alfred, Simmons would still be Gordon, and the whole thing sounded really cool. Then they brought in Whedon to film when Synder had to (understandably) step back to be with his family, and then they began to dismantle THE BATMAN.
I'll be sad to see that Affleck is gone. IF, in the future, I end up going to see THE BATMAN, I know I'll spend the whole time evaluating it on, "I wonder how much better that would have been if it had been Affleck instead of this young whipper-snapper in the role" and things like that, even if I try not to. And whenever they get around to another LEAGUE movie, I will miss the banter between Momoa & Affleck, the chemistry between Affleck & Gadot (I say, while being a huge WonderTrev shipper), and especially missing the Irons/Affleck scenes.
WONDER WOMAN and AQUAMAN were good, so I'll probably watch a future LEAGUE movie for them- and I really loved Cyborg in the LEAGUE movie. But WB has some issues, they cast that freaky Leto as Joker so I couldn't make myself watch SUICIDE SQUAD (now he's got his mitts on a Marvel role, thusly ruining another movie I had been previously looking forward to), they are doing this Joker movie with Pheonix, getting rid of Affleck, pushing off CYBORG, and ramming SHAZAM down our throats. Thank goodness for WONDER WOMAN and AQUAMAN, cause I'm feeling like a Cavill-Superman sequel is becoming a fainter and fainter possibility.

Yeah he was my favorite movie Batman and he had so much more to give the role. It sucks balls that he wont ever get to star in his own movie or future justice league movies. I loved his costume and voice and I wanted to see him interact with Letos Joker and have his own movie. Its a god damn shame that WB did this.

gotta be honest , I am very relieved that WB/DC is moving on withOUT Affleck . I was never really on board with him as Batman to begin with. He was already a household name & too old at the time . He looked bloated as Batman & too botoxed as Bruce Wayne . Plus, it just seemed like his heart wasn't in it. Like he was just collecting a paycheck .
Keep in mind though, I do like Affleck as an actor overall (esp in The Town) but I just think it was a misfire with him as Batman .
Here's hoping they/Reeves choose a much younger / much hungrier actor to portray the Batman this time around . These are definitely exciting times for DC fans.
