I finally saw it and it was waaaaaay more average than i expected, don't think i'll bother with seeing it again you know, out of the adjectives i would think to put next to Alita, average certainly wouldnt be one of them. here is why it was not average at all, to me
1. they killed an adorable dog in it for crying out loud, where else have you seen that, certainly not in your average fantasy or action movie 2. they killed off the main girls love interest, wow, where else have you seen that? 3. they killed off the woman that played essential part in saving the love couple. 4. the main girl really grew as a character, with her physical powers, her mental powers grew, which can be said for a lot of movies, but her character grew much more, to the point of becoming not only a reinstated leader, but someone who wasn't afraid to go against its good natured father figure (thats not average at all) and who seemed to have fully realized and use their value, wisdom and powers without getting cocky. with your average fantasy superhero, they either dont fully realize how powerful they really are, thus delay using the best of their powers for unnecessarily long (harry potter, frodo) or they become arrogant (iron man, spider man lately even superman), she had real depth and integrity to herself as a character which felt really way above average. 5. the cgi and visuals were So Not average :}
Well it's true it is unusual or not average for what we see in American movies but it's part of the violence heavy and real sad atmosphere you see in many 80's-90's japanese anime movies and series.
I also found the manga and went through it all. I'm somewhat glad they decided to change the way Grewishka got his new hands , because that would have fueled some nightmares for many watchers.

Looks like this will end up doing about as well as JOHN CARTER back in 2012.
There isn’t going to be a sequel.

I thought it was really good until the last act of the movie, where it started faltering IMO. Also, I didn't appreciate a cliffhanger-esque ending for a movie that may never get a sequel if it underperforms. I thought the girl who played Alita was great, as was Christoph Waltz. Mahershala Ali and Jennifer Connolly were just kind of meh, and the boyfriend wasn't great IMO. Oh, and the cameo reveal at the end looked kind of silly to me, but hey...talk about an easy paycheck. Awww poor little boy hates movies that are female centric. Are those mean old girls trying to take away your clubhouse?

I mean considering how offended he seem to get when people criticize Captain Marvel.

Why would someone post anything from Jack Probosiec here? He’s a fascist — a neo-Nazi.
His “opinion” on film is completely worthless.

Captain Marvel made more on Thursday and Friday than Alita has in it's entire domestic run.

Wow, that's really convincing. That Alita Challenge must have been a massive success.

The Blu Ray is selling extremely well. Been in the Amazon Top 10 bestsellers list for over 2 weeks now.

The first film was steaming shit she needs to get a day job. The stadium roller skates scene was good but that's it.

I’m pretty sure the ship’s sailed for a sequel. It’s time to move on.
