Link: www.wrestlingattitude.com/2019/02/interesting-names-for-wrestlemania-35.html?m=1Tonight's Smackdown is set to announce the next #1 contender for Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship. Kofi is supposedly not in consideration. Names brought up are returning people such as Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, John Cena, Batista, The Undertaker. I could see Bray Wyatt stepping in since Rowan is aligned with Bryan atm. They all have a history at least.

Damn, I thought Kofi was advertised on the commercial for tonight? He probably would've been the pick if he was involved, but whatever. Anyway, if the source above is true, then Bray Wyatt could most definitely be Daniel Bryan's next big challenge, though I don't think Bray would be in much position to complain about Erick Rowan's recent change, since Bray himself just lost his own identity and fell under the spell of Woken Matt, when he used to be a leader.

There was an update saying that Kofi may get the title shot at Fastlane but Bryan's Wrestlemania challenger will be one of the above mentioned.

Meltzer reported it's probably not going to be Cena but there's nothing for him to do on the card yet.

What world am I living in where Kofi Kingston being rumored and debated by fans to have a title shot at a PPV. Go with the Cena rumor. Did one of those Bella chicks split up with one of them? There was just an ad one where one of them (I can't tell them apart) was about to kiss a former contestant (winner?) of The Bachelor so this has me thinking either Cena or Bryan has split from one of them. can play up a storyline how one guy sabotaged the others relationship and instead of brother in laws they're enemies now. other than that - i'm all for Owens - he's one of the only current wrestlers for years I can stomach and find him hysterical. kofi Kingston? ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/ntbgu109l/odd.gif)

And that reaction from a casual fan is exactly why they shouldn't be putting the belt on Kofi based on two weeks of matches.
STF, I'm agreeing with you, but you should have heard the crowd at Elimination Chamber when it came down to Kofi vs Bryan. I put it down to a: brysn is a great worker and sold in a way that made people believe Kofi could pin him and b: because not everybody gets to be champion. As hard as they tried with the Jinder Mahsl and Bray Wyatt reigns, winning the title still means something, and when they thought Kofi of all people might win they went ape shit.

The Kofi thing was mostly fans just cheering in respect for what he has done for his entire career. He's never got that type of shot (imo it was a cool moment but he's not a World Champion) and it got fans to engage which is important in wrestling. WWE is now doing the perfect thing. Kofi isn't challenging for the belt at Mania. Well they have 1 PPV in between and WWE is going to capitalize on this flash in the pan and have Kofi vs Bryan at Fastlane and it'll likely tear the house down. Then the story will move on for a better contender for Bryan for Mania. It's going to be a Dolph Ziggler thing all over again. Kofi was never meant to be in this spot. He took Mustafa Ali's spot and WWE kept the booking the same and Kofi benefited. That booking was meant for Ali. Back when they had the Authority vs Team Cena at Survivor Series when Sting showed up I forget who it was (Reigns maybe?) he got taken out of the match and they gave that exact same booking spot to Dolph and it made Dolph look like a huge star. Fans went crazy for him because Dolph has always had the respect of the fans for being an amazing worker. Well, that never went anywhere because it wasn't Dolph's spot originally. The same thing is gonna happen with Kofi. He's gonna get his brief title shot and then the WWE machine will move on.

They're doing the exact same storyline with 2 belts on 2 shows. Vince takes Becky/Kofi out of a title match and randomly replaces them with Charlotte/Owens. Looking like a 3 way to be set up. Talk about lazy writing.
