Great to see the Fish again, playing the Nats on opening day. We are up 2-0 in the middle of the fourth, good hitting with runners in scoring position last inning, that's something we struggled with last year. Volquez looks good in his Marlins debut.

Where do you see the Fish finishing up this year? I see them finishing 3rd but it's tough to really predict whether they'll be 3rd with 85 wins, or 3rd with 75 wins. Kind of an unpredictable pitching staff with lots of potential after Volquez. I've never been a big Volquez fan myself but when he's on, he's pretty solid. Hopefully Chen can improve, and I like what Adam Conley brings to the table, just think he needs a bit more polish to his game. Don't really know much about their bullpen to be honest.
I know it sounds silly to say, but you guys need Stanton to stay healthy this year. He's played more than 123 games only once in the past 5 years, gotta keep that thunder in the lineup. I love Christian Yelich. That guy can play on my team any day. Terrific all around player, but if Stanton does down, he's the only reliable player. After those guys, they seem to have a lot of decent role-type players, like Marcell Ozuna (who can put up good numbers but seems prone to slumps and mental lapses, or he takes ABs off, just my impression from seeing him a play a bunch, you'd know better than me), Realmuto, Dee Gordon but nobody who can really carry the team on its back if need be.

I think that the Fish will contend for a Wild Card spot. I liked how they played today despite the loss, I was encouraged.
Stanton definitely needs to stay healthy all year, he's a great player when he's out there but he's had a ton of injuries. Yelich is a great player and is only now being fully appreciated by people who aren't Fish fans after the World Baseball Classic performance. The hitting is solid all around, we need Gordon to have a bounce back year after missing over half the games last season. I hope Ozuna has a solid full season as well, last year he had a great first half and a terrible second half.
Volquez was terrific in his Marlins debut today, Chen needs to have a comeback year after a terrible 2016, Koehler and Conley are both solid and Straily appears to be a good pickup though I haven't seen him much.
We need our bullpen to be good which they appear to be, they just cost us today. We are very deep in the pen and have lots of good players so it was very disappointing to see Phelps blow the game today. But we need our pen to live up to expectations.

I think that the Fish have a shot at beating the Mets, I'm not sold at all on the Mets being a sure playoff team, the Fish have better hitting and are more well rounded. The Mets have better starting pitching and Syndergaard and DeGrom are terrific but I could see the Fish having a better record.

Yeah it should be fun, I'm looking forward to the 2 Marlins-Mets series right off the bat, 3 games at Citi Field this weekend and then 4 games at Marlins Park next weekend, we should get to see how the teams matchup right off the bat.

I just wish the Marlins would swap their uniforms for something a bit more understated.

Well, the Fish blew another 2-0 lead tonight. Their hitters are doing okay but they just need to piece together a consistent performance for 9 innings. The Nats look good, Bryce Harper is having a great start to the year once again.
