He was the cool one.
Just leaves Dolenz, I believe.
I was caretaker for a lady who told me that "Last Train to Clarksville" was written for a woman in Clarksville, Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, who was seeing Davy Jones.
Well, she was around when it happened, and heard Davy say it while the Monkees were signing autographs at a drive in (which must have been the one in Georgetown, I suppose). So, I'm a believer.
But I remember living in Bardstown when the Monkees were big news, and we often went to Louisville, and across the river, and I don't remember anyone ever using a "train" for anything. I don't believe trains transported people in those days, except for those "short rides" for fun.

RIP Along with Mickey Dolenz, Michael Nesmith is still alive from what I just found, although he had quadruple bypass last year. All of the Monkees essentially played themselves except for Peter Tork. On the show he was the one with the simple and childlike mind, but in real life he was a very complicated guy. Stephen Stills tried out for the Monkees and didn't get the part, so he suggested that Peter Tork try out for it.

Peter Tork read the following poem on one Monkees album:
Peter Percival Patterson had a pet pig named Porky. This Pet Pig named Porky loved pie. He loved pizza pie, pumpkin pie, pineapple pie, pizza pie, mince tarts, And Peter Percival Patterson's pet pig Porky loved Pie for breakfast, pie for lunch, pie in the afternoon and pie before he went to ... Bed. Peter Percival Patterson's pet pig Porky ate so much pie, Do you know what he did? He popped. And if you're a real Monkees fan, you'll know that the poem was the preamble to what song? Pleasant Valley Sunday

Good news about him but I'm worried about my brain now.

I don't remember when I first heard that but it impressed me more than anything the Beatles did!
