It's on my watchlist.
I'm not expecting a masterpiece but something good.

How can there be no Raleigh Rimell? He was one of the three men that disappeared in this legendary doomed trek into the jungle. I don't see his name in the cast of characters. How did Hollywood manage to leave one of the three men out of the story?

I'm really excited for it. Loved the book and was always fascinated by the life of Percy Fawcett.

It's on my watchlist. I'm not expecting a masterpiece but something good. The same. As long as it's paced well and has good cinematography (and it looks that way), I'll be pleased. I'm also rooting for Pattinson and Hunnam to do well, but the bar has been set low with them (for me anyway).

Loved the book... I'm actually hoping it does not try to be some tentpole adventure, & just let us into it story naturally.

Anyone else in for this? I think it looks great. I have reservations about Charlie Hunnam, but we'll see if he can be someone other than Jax Teller on screen. www.moviefone.com/movie/the-lost-city-of-z/20089327/main/Ive seen it already its really good, I didnt know anything about Percy Fawcett before this film but now I am very interested in what he did. Hunam is good in the film as is Pattinson. I look forward to watching it again.

So would this earn some nominations next awards season? Like for cinematography or adapted screenplay?

Having not seen but the trailer, it would seem a safe pick for nominations -if nothing else makes their mark- through the autumn. It'll be a safe go to for critics & voters should nothing else pop up later.

I finally saw this. Excellent, a solid 9/10. Hunnam and Pattinson were great (Pattinson especially surprised me. I hope his work here leads him to more roles like it). The acting was solid all the way around, the pacing was good, and the cinematography was great.
In the interest of clarity, I'll add that I have not read any of the books this was supposed to be based on.

It's really good and goes into more detail about Fawcett, his fellow explorers, the history of the Amazonian people, and of course lost cities.

Was a very interesting movie. Unconventional for modern times, or at least harkens back to a more classical cinematic era in terms of pacing and formula. A must see for adventure fans. That being said, it's understated nature made it a bit flat in crucial moments, and did not soar as high as it should have.
