DC did win back a lot of fans with Aquaman, it may not have won awards but people seemed to like it and it was successful. Hopefully it can carry on with Shazam. How come the OP is allowed to stay on the board when any similar posts I have written got removed? Because you're just an idiot troll. |

A) We all know that the Academy discounted Aquaman for some reason, so it couldn't have won anything; or it would have at least been nominated for FX.
and
B) DCEU won an Oscar first with make up for Suicide Squad.

A) We all know that the Academy discounted Aquaman for some reason, so it couldn't have won anything; or it would have at least been nominated for FX.

B) DCEU won an Oscar first with make up for Suicide Squad.
*Hair and makeup. They won an Oscar because they made really sweet wigs.... Like Marvel has experienced, the Academy doesn’t seem to like over-doing cgi. Marvel movies have never won a VFX Oscar, and many weren’t nominated. I think Aquaman didn’t get nominated because it took over-doing cgi to another level. I think having that much cgi is impressive, but they prefer the subtler ones, like First Man, or the one with the girl and the polar bear. |

Of all the movies that were nominated for it First Man SHOULD NOT HAVE WON IT. There was absolutely nothing new or particularly interesting about the FX in First Man, and I saw that movie in the theatre (unfortunately). When it won I literally yelled out "get the fuck outta here!"
In all fairness there was nothing particularly new about the FX in Infinity War either, BUT the sheer size and scope of the FX in that movie are breathtaking. Never have we seen superheroes SO fully realized in live action as that.
Oscar got it wrong.
AND they didn't nominate Aquaman. WTF?

i quite enjoyed its win. I'm not going to tell you you're wrong, just that I disagree. The FX in First Man were fine. But they look exactly like what we've seen from real space flight footage. In terms of authenticity that's great, but nothing special. In fact there's so much footage of the real space landing they could've just incorporated that.
Whereas the FX in Infinity War encompass vast armies, superhuman battles, alien locales, Brolin turned in a fully realized Thanos whose face showed emotion; and all of these things fully integrated with live action footage, wire work and stunts. Just amazing!
First Man's FX were merely... ok. Like the movie itself. LOL
